About Marna David
Your hosts are two sisters. Stephanie has an extensive and creative background in antiques and furniture refinishing while Marna has been busy for years rehabbing as much of the historic architecture in New Orleans as she can manage. While we’ll give you your space and privacy, we ARE on hand with hopefully helpful information--or help--if needed.
Marna David purchased this Cottage in 2001

First time visit to NOLA and we ended up engaged!
The drive into the neighborhood had us a bit concerned, but just at first. The neighborhood ended up being quiet and we did feel safe walking around. We love the cottage! It was nestled in the backyard, and was very private and accommodating. It was very clean as well. We loved hanging on the front porch in the mornings with coffee, or they late evenings with an adult beverage. And it was a bonus anytime we got to hang out with Bo Diddley! Marna and Stephanie were very helpful in making and changing our reservations, as well as making suggestions for places to go/eat/see. We would definitely rent the cottage again, and are hoping to come down for a Saints game and will try to stay there if it’s available. Thank you for a wonderful first visit to NOLA! This was a great place to stay!!
Absolutely fantastic and even better than expected.
Reading previous reviews we were already expecting an awesome place but we were still blown away when we showed up. This property is absolutely fantastic and the hosts are just as awesome. Everything is well maintained and super clean. The house is well kept, eloquently decorated, and furnished with almost anything you would need. The neighborhood is super quiet with plenty of bars, shops, and a place to buy groceries just 2 blocks down the street. When we come back to town this is definitely where we would like to stay again.
This is a spectacular review! Just what any host would love to hear and we thank you for putting this into words for us. It's always good to hear that the Cottage is clean and comfortable--but "eloquently decorated" is music to us. And, you're right--all the good stuff is just a stone's throw away and the Cottage is a quiet retreat. Come again!!!
Cute, clean, roomy cottage!
Stayed for a stormy weekend in May at this adorable cottage that's tucked away behind the main house. SO roomy and clean. Very comfortable, has everything you need. Love the St. Roch Market just a couple blocks away.
Thanks for your kind review! It IS so hidden away.... a welcome retreat. And we often hear that it's bigger than expected. Love that you found it adorable!
Comfortable and spacious. Great location near Frenchmen Street. Wonderful and responsive hosts.
It's always a compliment to be called wonderful!! And as hosts, we appreciate being responsive with a comfortable space to offer. Thanks for the great review.
I don't want to leave too great a review because the next time we visit NOLA, Marna and Stephanie's place will be booked and we won't be able to stay!!! This is the most perfect place you could stay in this beautiful city. It is either in walking distance to everything or a very short walk to a streetcar. There are two markets within walking distance as well as amazing bars, restaurants and music venues. We had the pleasure of staying during JazzFest this year and coming back to the cottage each day was a refuge. There is a peaceful back yard where we had coffee in the morning and cocktails at night. The cottage is decorated in a very comfortable style and we instantly felt at home. The bed is comfy, the towels are fluffy and there are many, many thoughtful amenities. Marna responded to us immediately whenever we had a question and the cottage was spotlessly clean with everything you could need. If this property is available, then don't hesitate to book it - you won't regret it. We definitely will be returning!!!! Be sure to visit the St. Roch Market and stop by to see Charles outside of the AllWays Lounge on St. Claude Ave for the MOST AMAZING fresh crawfish boil!!
What a fantastic review! Can't thank you enough for for the wonderful things you had to say about our space....and you covered just about all of them. Our location is a gift and your comment on it feeling like home is music to our ears. It was our goal to do just that. The refuge is the best feature of all....New Orleans is a busy, magic city that can really use a quiet get away at the end of the day....and the cottage offers that warmly. Thanks again for this great review!
All around beautiful space and backyard in wonderful neighborhood!
Perfect review! Short and sweet and so good to hear that you like both.
Coffee shops abound! The local Fresh Food Co-op is one block away and groceries can be 'made' at the Mardi Gras Zone just a few more blocks away. Funky dive-bars and craft cocktail watering holes are plentiful and within walking distance. Restaurants from fine dining (The Country Club, Feelings), BBQ (The Joint), to the uniquely quirky (Lost Love Lounge), Middle Eastern (Cafe Istanbul)...you name it. It's all here. Night life litters St Claude Av and the local gold standard of Frenchman Street is plentifully at hand. Art galleries. Even two theatres (offering small presentations, slam poetry and The Goodnight show) are up the block.
