The Moon Creek Cabin is a wonderful place to escape the summer heat, enjoy the winter snow and get away from it all. Listen to the babbling brook in the backyard. Relax and rejuvenate in the our comfortable mountain cabin with a gourmet kitchen (granite countertops, new stainless appliances, gas range/oven), custom beetle-kill window trim and hardwood and decorative tile floors. We also have a wood-burning stove that is perfect to warm up to after a long day of skiing or snow-shoeing. In summer, step outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air, listen to the babbling brook while enjoying all the mountain wildflowers and hummingbirds. Also watch for moose, elk, deer, fox, coyote and variety of beautiful songbirds. The Moon Creek Cabin is literally at the end of the road. There is nothing above you but nature for miles and miles. No need to drive from the cabin, just step outside and start hiking up Moon Gulch. The peacefulness and tranquility of this cabin is unparalleled. Guests will have the entire home and property to themselves. We also provide 2 pairs of adult snowshoes and poles for your use. NOTE: 4wd or Awd REQUIRED in "winter" (generally mid-October to end of April or sometimes May). Please confirm you have 4wd or Awd for all booking requests during this time.
For the nature lover, there is world-class hiking, cross-country skiing, hiking, biking, back country alpine touring, snow-shoeing, climbing and fishing right out the front door. Or take a very short drive to the James Peak and Indian Peaks Wilderness Areas and experience beautiful alpine lakes, native wildflower meadows and magical subalpine forest. If you like to ride your ATV or dirt-bike, then the Moon Creek Cabin offers a unique jumping off point to explore the old mining roads of Upper Moon Gulch and the historic mining town of Apex. Ride right from the cabin!
If you prefer a scenic drive, the Peak to Peak Highway is only two miles away and you can take a 10 minute drive to the funky town of Nederland with numerous good restaurants and unique gift shops. Or drive 45 minutes north, and visit Estes Park which is the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park. To the south are the towns of Black Hawk and Central City, known for casinos and the Central City Opera. The progressive town of Boulder is only a 40 minute drive to the east where you can visit the famous Peal Street Mall and the hand-painted Dushanbe Tea House. Finally, we are only 75 minutes from Denver International Airport.
