About Greg Myers

Hello! My name is Greg. I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and currently live there as well. I bleed Scarlett and Grey and became an Ohio State Alumni in 2012. I currently am working as a real estate agent and have work history in hospitality, customer service and property management.

Thank you for considering my property. I welcome you to stay at and fall in love with, The Place!

Greg Myers purchased this chateau / country house in 1989

Why Greg Myers chose Laurelville

Back in 1989, my parents bought this property when I was a year old. When it was bought, a name just could not be agreed upon, so it simply became known as The Place! I have been going down to this property my entire life and have some of my best memories there.

When my dad passed in 2005, I inherited the property. In 2011, I tore down and rebuilt half of the home and renovated the other half. It is a place that I absolutely love and am thrilled to be able to share it with others.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

The Place is truly unique. There are not many places where you can find such a secluded, private home with two large private ponds as well as breathtaking views and wildlife.

Great quiet getaway weekend

Had a wonderful and relaxing reunion weekend at this property. The house was well supplied and sits on a beautiful lake. Couldn't have found a better place for the weekend!

Wonderful and very family friendly.

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time. So much to do boating, fishing, hiking and just sitting around enjoying nature.

Greg the owner was very accommodating. His cabin was lovely and very well stocked with necessities.

We have 6 grandsons ages 3 to 13, all of them wanted to stay because there was so much for them to do.

Thanks again for opening your home to us.

Extended family get away

  • 5 of 5

We had a great experience. The cabin was quiet and secluded, the kitchen was great especially with 2 small children, ages 1 and 3. Cooking in was so much easier, we did fires outside in the pit and taught the 3 year old how to fish! Only draw back was no cell service but there is a landline, wifi is spotty, but in the long run turned out great - no one was always looking at there phone or on the internet.

Property looks a lot bigger in the photos, see our family's review below.

  • 1 of 5

Owner would not answer emails and phone calls, property was supposed to be dog friendly. We emailed a week in advance to verify and got no response. He decided to respond the 2nd day of our stay saying it was $100 fee plus $25 per dog per day. If we had known it would be that expensive we would have left them at home, especially since we had 5 dogs, 4 of which were under 30 lbs. There was also supposed to have propane and firewood for us to use, but nope there was none of either. I again called the owner and the number for the caretaker (which is disconnected) and told them we had no propane and firewood. Never got a response so we had to drive around for an hour looking for a place that sold both. Now on to the pond off the deck. Looks nice in the photos until you get there and see the film of brown fluid floating on top. We didn't let the kids or dogs swim in it for fear of what it was or what it could do to them. We also found cockroaches in the bathroom. Last straw was the GUN we found in the lower level that any of the kids could have found but thankfully didn't as it was right by some of the baseball gloves and other sports stuff. Think twice about using this cabin, our family will not be back.

Owner's Response: Hi Patrick, I'm very sorry that you did not have the experience that you were hoping for. I want to begin by apologizing for my poor communication before and during your stay. As previous reviews indicate, I normally communicate very well with my guests. I should have taken better care to ensure that you could get in touch with someone. I did not realize that my caretaker's phone number had not been updated, which I will get resolved as soon as possible. While I did actually get back to you the day of your stay and not the second day, it was still unacceptable to not have been able to get back to you before the day of. In regard to the dogs, my listing specifically states under the rates section what the pet fees are. I apologize if that was unclear. I was not told of any pets at the time of your booking so I assumed that there weran't any coming down. Since I was so tardy in getting back to you regarding the pets, I decided that it was not right to charge you for them and refunded your entire deposit on 8/21. You had said that there would be 3 pups, and I agreed to only charge for 2 when in actuality there were 5 dogs, none of which I charged for. I do keep propane stocked for the grill. However, sometimes it does get overlooked. I do apologize and as you remember I agreed to refund $50, which basically doubles the cost of the propane because I wanted to make sure that you were compensated for the hassle. I also apologize for your troubles with the firewood. While I do not state anywhere on the listing that I provide firewood, I should have listed places where it can be found that are close by. This has been taken care of to avoid future issues. While I try to keep the pond as clear as possible, I have no control of the weather. The amount of rain at the time was far above average which was causing the murkiness. I do apologize for the cockroach. I do my best to keep pests out of the house, but they do get in from time to time as the house is in the woods. Thank you for alerting me to this issue though. It is something that I keep close eyes on. Finally, the gun that you are referring to is a very old antique which does not work. I would never leave a dangerous weapon laying around. However, you have a point about how some would not realize that it isn't dangerous, so I will get it stored in another location. I regret the troubles with your stay. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do. Sincerely, Greg Myers
