Coach house

Authentiek

Pleasant holiday dwelling
Wonderful owners, who welcomed us and gave us our privacy. Donky domino is in our kids hearts. The space is light and pleasant, both downstairs (do note the lower beams) and upstairs (which was alway cool — unusual and pleasant for these buildings). Garden provides ample opportunity to catch some sunshine.

The coach house
We had great holiday at the coach house. It provided us with a good base from where we could explore Normandy. An hour from the beaches at deauville and wonderful little towns were within 30 minutes. Kadi was very helpful with tips about restaurants and places to visit. The property had a great open plan living area and the bedrooms upstairs were more than adequate. It had a great enclosed garden for the children to play in and the added bonus of the donkeys in the next plot, the kids loved feeding them carrots every day!

Beautiful character property in rural location
Great communication with English speaking owners who are very friendly and helpful both before we arrived and during our stay. The coach house is beautiful and old with wonky sloping floors upstairs, plenty of space and lovely old beams. Nobody lives in the attached part of the property so we didn’t have to worry about the kids being noisy. We arrived and the kids were straight out into the garden where Domino the donkey came over to greet us with a very quiet attempt at a bray! A lovely welcome! Derek and Domino the donkeys at the bottom of the garden were a massive hit with the kids. The highlight of our daughters holiday was being taken into their field to stroke them! The master, double and twin rooms all have views out towards the donkeys. Very quiet hamlet. Really easy drive from Calais euro tunnel. Roads so quiet and empty. Took us 3 hours 15. There were two tolls both of about 8.5 euros. Machines take cards and are easy to use. On the way home we stopped at Le Crotoy in the Somme bay for our picnic lunch. Pleasant town to stretch our legs, have an ice cream and use the loos. We did a fair few miles in the car during our stay but location of the property meant we could reach the north coast and also Paris. We did day trips to Trueville (lovely sandy beach, 1.5 hrs) Bayeux and Arromamches, (1.5 hrs) Versailles (2 and a quarter hours) , Paris (by train from Bernay takes 1.5 hrs) crevecoeur with medieval joust (45 mins) Book a timed passport ticket if you’re going to Versailles (saved us a massive queue). If you want to go up the Eiffel Tower jump the queue type tickets go on sale something like 5 weeks in advance. Orbec is 15 mins away and has a carrefourre market (middle sized supermarket with petrol opposite) and a high street with several boulangeries and green grocer and small spar. Several shops/ restaurants were shut for their summer holiday. NB Bring a hair dryer if you want one. Restaurants don’t open until 7pm unless you are somewhere very touristy There is no razor socket so bring an extra adapter. Electricity bill wasn’t an issue Had to be out by 10am for cleaner. The Church bells (next to the property) do chime the hour and half past but stop over night so you get a good nights sleep. There’s a green gauge tree with branches that overhang the car park space - yummy!! Saw bats, swallows (lots of other birds) and deer Don’t forget to buy some carrots for the donkeys.

We (Kim and Kadi) have lived here for 20 years - the Coach House is situated on a land (3 acres) and separated from our own main house. As the name implies, our holiday rental cottage is the original's coach man's house of our 1820's property.

Kim has an antique's business and have a regular presence in the region's markets as well as selling in England. They are always on hand during rental periods to help and advise clients who want to visits the markets.

Kadi has a fishing destination company and has access to all the region's best fishing

Why they chose this property

I'm a keen fly fisherman and I was looking for a lovely property that would offer me good access to region's wonderful trout rivers and one that would suit my wife's requirements of peace and tranquility and enough land for animals; That's how we ended up living in an 1820's with a outbuildings and a Coach House.

What makes this property unique

This property is extremely well maintained and furnished and is ideally situated to take advantage of all the region's best tourist activities. Or or for relaxing and chilling out in a peaceful environment.

The owners are always hand to help and advise if required and home animals are delight for children
