The "Cottage" suite is the ground floor unit.

This 2-bedroom beauty was completely renovated in late 2014. Taken down to the studs, every effort was made to ensure a comfortable stay for our guests. From industrial-grade soundproofing to re-designed porches, no detail was missed.

A simple, efficient open floor plan showcases a living room, bar and kitchen- all within one vantage point. Comfortable seating for 7, brand-new stainless steel Bosch appliances, a 2-top bar and 50' flat screen with Direct TV are highlights.

The two bedrooms are just down the hall-

The King Bedroom boasts the finest Malouf Egyptian cotton sheets, pillow-top mattress and 6 pillows (both down and polyester). The comforters are hand-made and designed for the Charleston climate. Each duvet cover is professionally cleaned before each guest's arrival. There is a small closet that stores a luggage rack, iron and full-length mirror. A 45' flat screen with Direct TV is nicely positioned.

The Queen Bedroom has all the same plush linens as the King. Extra blankets and linens are available in the closet, if needed.

The full bathroom is clean and crisp. A European style glass and tile shower contrasts nicely to the white tile floor. All of the finest towels, makeup cloths and Gilchrist & Soames toiletries are provided.

There is a 3-night minimum on weekends (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday) with this listing.

Amazing Family Headquarters for your Charleston Adventure

Stayed for 3 Nights at “The Compound” and loved each and every night!! The location is amazing and is only 2 blocks off King St. allowing for short walks to great dining and drinks each night. Also this rental includes off street parking which after spending several days in Charleston should not be under valued. This alone took a ton of stress out of our vacation each night when returning to the rental. In addition, this rental is centrally located as you can be in the historic district via a 5 mins drive, Patriot Point via a 15 min drive, or Folly Beach within a 20 min drive making this the perfect headquarters for our family summer break! The property is clean and well decorated making the accommodations feel updated and fresh. Andrew and his great dog Ox were gracious hosts who made sure all was to our satisfaction. I could not ask more from this experience and will be sure to recommend other to “The Compound” and will be surely using again during our next Charleston visit.

Great Getaway from The Cold North

Our group of 4 enjoyed our stay. The apartment was as shown in the photos and was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds and furniture were comfortable. There is a very nice seating area on the front porch. We were somewhat concerned about the possibility of road noise but this was no problem. There was some bothersome noise from an HVAC unit right outside one of the bedrooms, but this was not a big problem. The location was ideal for restaurants, shopping and all the fun on King Street. Also there is an incredible restaurant just across the street named Sorghum and Salt.

Andrew was very helpful and checked in on us several times to see if any issues. We would definitely consider renting this property in the future.

Nice apartment a few blocks from King Street

We stayed on the lower level of the compound for a week in December with a young kid. The apartment as others have noted is part of a larger complex, and in the neighborhood adjacent to upper King street. It is nice as it feels removed from the crowds on King street, since it is located in the neighboring neighborhood (Elliotborough), but so close you can walk in five minutes. Upper King street is much more hip and trendy than the touristy feel of the lower portion with all the stores etc. and there are lots of great bars and restaurants close to this place. Andrew keeps it clean and functional and well stocked. It sort of feels like a little B&B. We stayed on the lower level, so if you are not used to having people above you (the penthouse above is the same layout) you may want to consider the upstairs apartment, even though there is soundproofing you can hear walking back and forth etc. Andrew is super nice and accommodating and easily accessible. This place really works if you want no frills, clean, easy to get around Charleston and comfortable beds!

Centrally located comfortable space

Five of us spent three nights in this space. The beds in the two bedrooms were quite comfortable, however our friend sleeping on the couch found the pull-out less than ideal. The location is perfect for exploring King Street and is dangerously close to the delicious Hominy Grill! The bathroom was small for our larger group, but clean and well stocked. The kitchen was also nice and Keurig was perfect for slow mornings. The home has seen a bit of wear and there was a bit of a musty smell when we arrived, but the fan and air conditioning quickly remedied that. Andrew was extremely easy to communicate with and was around throughout our stay had we needed anything (though everything from check-in on went perfectly). Thanks for a great stay!

Awesome place that is super accessible to the entire city

This place is great! The newly renovated building is welcoming and comfortable. It is walking distance to King Street and the rest of the city. There was ample parking and it is a great getaway for a couple or a group. Make sure to check out all of the spaces available on property. We will look to stay here again when we visit Charleston.

Convenient Location in Charleston

We loved staying at his nicely appointed apartment. The beds were super comfortable and the kitchen and bathroom were very nicely done with all the necessary equipment being great. This was a very convenient location. I would highly recommend it.
