Perfect alternative to expensive hotel room without giving up luxury or location! Beautiful historic building completely renovated with all modern amenities and elevator, the building is completely brand new inside, but with original facade outside on popular Huertas street, extremely close to Prado, Thyssen and Reina Sofia Museums and the Palacio Real (Royal Palace), in historic downtown center of Madrid, the famous Barrio de las Letras.

and 2 sofa beds in the living area. The bedroom has 3 walls and is not totally private. You can see it in the pictures.

I have lived in Madrid for the past decade, glad to help you choose the best places to visit in and around Madrid. The apartment is right next to Plaza de Santa Ana. Near Puerta del Sol and the Plaza Mayor and the Museums. You can walk to to La Cava Baja, a street full of restaurants and little bars. Also, the Mercado de San Miguel a great meeting place and delicious tapas!

The Metro subway station is a few steps away, so that you may easily move around Madrid, as well as a short walk to the Atocha Main Train station, from which you can easily take the high-speed bullet train AVE to Toledo, Segovia or Avila, or longer trips to Sevilla, Alicante or Barcelona.

You will love it!

Why Gorete Fieira Novack chose Sol

Location, location, location! This is smack-dab in the middle of the historic Barrio de las Letras (Literature Neighborhood) very romantic, safe and with countless places to eat, people-watch, on a pedestrian street (no traffic).

What makes this apartment unique

The building was completely gutted a few years ago and they saved the facade and the 100 year old staircase, but everything else is brand-new modern construction and a modern elevator. We have furnished and equipped the apartment with everything we would like to find in a rental, we use VRBO ourselves when we travel so we understand that small details are paramount. Besides, we have lived in Madrid for over a decade, so we are happy to steer you to the best suggestions, whether they are restaurants, site seeing, shopping, trendy restaurants, family places or unique Madrid experiences depending on your date of travel.

Location, location, location! The apartment is located in a historic building that was completely renovated a few years ago, so that the essence of the old was kept and all the modern amenities and comforts added. The windows are double-paned glass, so that even though you are smack-dab in the middle of the historic downtown area, literally a stone´s throw away from virtually all the worthwhile cultural and artistic sites (Prado Museum, Reina Sofia Modern Art Museum, Thyssen, Palacio Real (Royal Palace), Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, etc.) you will have a safe and restful home away from home to enjoy Madrid to the fullest! Also, the Metro stop and Atocha train station is very, very close and you may easily take day trips to Toledo, Segovia, Avila or take the AVE (High Speed Train) to Sevilla, Alicante or Barcelona. Exceptional apartment, wonderful owner and assistant, incredible location...walk to everywhere!

  • 5 of 5

We have fallen in love with Madrid and much of that is due to the kind hospitality of Gorete and Alicia, the owner and her assistant who greeted us after our long flight. A bottle of wine/ a delicious cake were on the immaculate kitchen counter when we arrived. The charm and convenience of this very safe location was an absolute capital Plus! The beautiful tall windows along with the thoughtfully designed apartment, fully equipped kitchen and bath, great closet space and very comfortable bed made it a pleasure to walk home/open the door to our temporary home after full day of seeing the city. And what a city!

Two grocery stores are right around the corner with everything you would need for your visit...there are also restaurants, cafes, unique shops and small local delightful taverns in the neighborhood, gelato store right across the street. Great hot chocolate, quick short walk away! Bakeries abound with delicious croissants/ pastries. But here is the beauty, immediately outside the apartment, the street is predominantly pedestrian with an occasional taxi for pick up/ drop off. We loved seeing couples, families with children, young adults, seniors, all walking and enjoying their city.

We literally walked everywhere...the Royal Palace, the innumerable beautiful plazas, the Prado....on and on...always looking up and viewing the stunning architecture of an amazing city filled with many friendly people. We spent the first quarter of our trip in Madrid and returned at the end to this same apartment...it felt like home. And Gorete definitely made us feel that way. The rich history of Madrid along with its beautiful old buildings just wraps around you. On our last day, we decided to take the hop on Modern tour bus and loved seeing the contemporary architecture. If you have time, I highly recommend seeing this side of Madrid...very impressive how they have married the two viewpoints.

I cannot say enough about the kindness of these two women...by the end of my trip and planning, I felt I had gained a friend. I highly recommend this apartment

to anyone who wants to immerse himself or herself within the heart of Madrid. Gorete will help you with any detail of your stay. Since I do not speak any Spanish, I especially appreciated her help with my many questions regarding the planning. Alicia greeted us /arranged our taxi service to the train station and airport. Could not have done it without her.

Wonderful place/ incredible hosts!!

Great location, very well-thought out space. Perfectly clean. Lovely towels and sheets.

Great stay. Owner was very proactive about communicating with us. That’s not always the case with VRBO owners and it can be nerve-wracking.

We were met and introduced to the apartment, shown how everything worked. Owner kindly provided starter coffee, wine, some condiments. Bathroom was well designed— adequate shelf space for personal supplies. Nice hairdryer. Perfect closet/drawer space. Extremely efficient. Owner was very accommodating with arrival time. She even arranged our departure taxi in advance, and it worked out perfectly. We loved Madrid and look forward to returning, and especially to Gorete ‘s property.

Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Every aspect of my stay was perfect: the flat is exactly as pictured and offers every comfort of home. It's been expertly designed and furnished. I especially appreciated the good quality linens and towels provided; the flat is immaculately clean. The location is excellent with many great restaurants and points of interest within walking distance. I especially enjoyed a night out at the Central Jazz Cafe, less than a block away, as well as visits to the food stalls at Mercado de San Miguel - an epicurean delight! Can't wait to return to Madrid and will gladly stay here again. Many thanks to Gorete and Alicia for a great experience.

Beautiful apartments

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in two different apartments. One a smaller studio style, very quiet and the other a one bed apartment with doors opening out over the street. Both very well equipped and clean. The welcome gifts were really appreciated.

Chic and comfortable. A perfect little home away.

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed 3 nights in this lovely apartment. Although not particularly large, it seeemed roomy and comfortable. The two sofas in the living room are a huge plus. Both of us could stretch out and relax and still be in close proximity to one another.

The location is sublime on a pedestrian street with loads of restaurants, food stores and ambiance. But, although so close, the apartment was very quiet thanks to the sound proof windows, another important detail.

And clean: impeccably clean.

Plus lovely little treats for us: all sorts of nice toileteries, a bottle a wine and cake!

Gorete, the landlady, has made this apartment a wonderful oasis for the tired traveler.

I would highly recommend this apartment!
