Home away from home
The property ticked a lot of boxes for my 3.5 week stay in Paris in October to attend a language school. It's not for everybody as it is not in a tourist (central) area, but you will experience life as a true Parisian! Equally, there are two nearby metro lines, one of which goes directly to the Marais/Beaubourg district and on to Chatêlet (to get to the Left Bank) so the travelling times weren't onerous. The apartment is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac in a pleasant area near a large park, Buttes Chaumont. In the other direction, the lively areas of Belleville and Ménilmontant are nearby. The apartment is very clean and quiet; I was able to sleep with the window open. It is light and airy. It isn't large but is well-designed and well-equipped and I was very comfortable. One suggestion; I would have appreciated an instruction guide for the television as I was unable to connect to anything at all and missed the chance to watch French tv (or English if that was available). I will bring a teenager next time! The apartment is well maintained and it is clear that Benoît lives there a lot of the time and cares for it very well, so visitors should respect that. As mentioned, there is no elevator in the building and the apartment is on the 5th floor so carrying luggage isn't fun. This is not exceptional in Europe though. Overall a very good stay for me. Quite a good selection of shops, restaurants, cafés and supermarkets within easy reach and lots of possible walks into less travelled Parisian neighbourhoods.
