About this property

Great house in quiet village, ideal for families, short drive to local amenities

The Old Vicar's House is a beautifully restored stone house with lots of character (the house suffered bomb damage in WW1 but thankfully was rebuilt in 1928). It is located in Podmelec, a traditional but vibrant village with very friendly neighbours. It is equidistant to both Most na Soci and Tolmin via safe main roads and tourist routes.

It is a perfect location for those looking for a quiet base with all the mod cons. The accommodation would suit singles, couples, or families with 1 child. In 2018, the house can accommodate up to 3 persons.

All of the original features of the house have been retained, there are exposed ceiling beams to all floors, original sanded doors and flooring throughout, a wood burning stove, a modern fitted kitchen with granite work surface, a dishwasher and a variety of quality appliances to ensure an enjoyable stay. The dining room is perfect for all meal times. There is a luxury bathroom with separate shower and bath and also a separate cloakroom upstairs.

There is a large balcony to the front for al-fresco dining or sunbathing and a side terrace adjacent to the basement utility / play room.

Outstanding stay at a beautiful house in the middle of the village
Very nicely decorated house with good quality fixtures and fittings, and lots of space, on many floors. The views from the house to the surrounding valley and mountains is breath taking.

Well worth the stay, lovely house in great spot.
Very well kept property, we were greeted by the local Slovene neighbour who spoke excellent English, gave us the key and showed us around and made sure we understood how everything worked. We had a wonderfully relaxing stay in the house and were not woken up at all at night time despite the house being in the centre of the village, as there is very little passing traffic. We would not hesitate to recommend Hisa nad Baco to anyone wanting a nicely appointed base in which to explore the area.

"Mooie rustige plek in ee...

Why they chose this property

I was very lucky with the sunny village I chose to buy in; it is very vibrant and the locals are great, friendly and used to visitors in the summer. It is easy to get to as it is in the foothills of the Julian alps, so getting to shops, restaurants, petrol station is all possible within a 15 minute drive.

What makes this property unique

The house was formerly the Slovene Vicar's house for the village and was once owned by a relative of Picasso! Spiritually, it is very calm and pure; staying and sleeping there is very relaxing with great local neighbours who all know me well.
