About the property

Discover one of Brussels's TOP 100 Architectural Patrimony

Situated in an Art Nouveau mansion called the Mayeres House, this exceptional and spacious apartment (120 sqm) offers something out of commons. The building was the private house of the architect Michel Mayeres (Victor Horta's disciple) and is listed as Brussels Architectural Heritage. The Mayeres House is merely a few minutes away from the main attractions of the city: the famous fashion district of Avenue Louise & Boulevard de Waterloo, the historic Grand Place and the European Quarter . From there you can enjoy the shopping and touristic parts of the city without having to suffer from the noise and nuisances usually associated with crowded touristic places.

We are located in a quiet family friendly street. Children play usually outside and parents enjoy small talks on their porch. Every 10 minutes a bus takes you to the Grand Place. At the corner of the street, a bus leads you directly to the European Parliament. Other buses, metro (7’ walk) and tramways bring you easily to every point of interest in the city.

As you enter the apartment, you will immediately appreciate a sense of comfort, privacy and autenticity:

Including a fireplace, a flat TV, a large dining table (up to 7), a leather sofa from Ditre Italia, two Scandinavian design chair, a small office table with a printer, a bar offering a view trough the living to the kitchen; a perfect place to relax and drink something while the chef is cooking or before to go to the restaurant.

* MASTER BEDROOM: King size bed (1,80m) with 2 side tables and lamps, bed linens provided, doubled curtains and two very wide wardrobes.

* SECOND BEDROOM: one bunk bed and an extra single bed, a mezzanine, a sink and a wardrobe. Games and books for children are available upon request.

Fully-equipped kitchen with a Boretti M-System cooking range (6 gas and one very large oven), extractor hood, microwaves, dishwasher, Nespresso machine, kettle, toaster, fridge, freezer and double sink. The kitchen has been decorated with Emery & cie tiles what creates a very warm and cozy typical Belgian atmosphere.

In the bathroom you will find a large Villeroy and Bosh bathtub with an integrated shower. The toilet is separated from the bathroom.

The apartment is equipped with Wi-Fi ADSL and a printer-scanner-copier for your office work. For your leisure it offers a flat screen TV with digital television providing plenty of American and international channels (including NETFLIX). Among others, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker and standard coffee maker, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer were not forgotten.

A parking place (garage) is available on site. It doesn't fit minivans or extrememly big cars. Contact us for more information. 15 EUR/DAY.

Luxurious ART NOUVEAU apartment near city CENTER with PARKING!
average rating of 4.95 based on 20 reviews

Great house, a little too far away for walking

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at the place.

Very cozy and nice. Very hospitable.

The design of the rooms are a little odd where one has to walk through the stairwell or the master bedroom to go to the bathroom or get to the kitchen.

The distance is a little far from the city center and parking can be expensive. They have a spot on the street, but still have to pay for it.

Splendid, the best we've had from homeaway.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely apartment. Everything one would want, more than one expects, with super owners who were most helpful.

Kitchen perfect (not what we have found previously). Great selection of oil, vinegar spices etc. even garlic!

Milk, bread and real Belgian chocs to welcome us. Condiments galore including a mixed pepper which did our Tuna stew

magnificently. Eugenie and Ben were really helpful. Bed enormous, art nouveau/deco fireplaces amazing.

Walk from Madou tube keeps you fit though it's easier from Botanique.

Turkish friturie round the corner does great frites and chicken baguettes. Gemlik bakery has good buns and the butchers

has to be seen to be believed. The various nationalities seem to coexist amiably; far more than we see here. Museum of musical Instruments a must.

In toto, unconditionally recommended. Should relly have six stars.

My husband and I were thrilled with our stay. Wonderful amenities made us feel like we were staying at a 5 star hotel. We brought our infant son along, and they provided us a comfortable crib and toys for him. The bread, cheese, chocolates, coffee, and other sundries that were there waiting for us upon arrival were an outstanding addition. We had a difficult time finding the neighborhood, in the future we would taxi to the house and take public transportation versus renting a car. We attempted to find the apartment with printed out directions, we would have been fine had we used a GPS. With that said, we enjoyed the neighborhood and the convenience of being able to walk to many tourist spots. Thank you for making our stay in Brussels memorable!

Fabulous! You WANT to stay at this property!

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful, wonderful option for staying in Brussels! The check in process was very easy with Eugenie (the owner) serving as the most excellent hostess. She welcomed us on arrival, went over the basics of the apartment, as well as having some thoughtful snack available to us already in the apartment (including fresh bread, cheese, beverages, etc.). She lives in the building as well and was quite accessible and helpful when we had questions.

The apartment itself is on the ground floor (very easy for travelers with luggage). The space was pristine, as well as impressively large, bright and open compared to other placed we have rented around Europe. We enjoyed the information and history of the house available to us.

The location is fine so long as you don't mind getting around on foot. We generally spend our time moving around a city by walking and most of the restaurants, bars and sights were a 20-40 minute walk. There is a convenient subway stop a few blocks away (about a 5 minute walk). We usually do not use public transportation much, but this was easy for getting to Brussels Midi (we did this the day we took the train to Brugge and it was quite easy / convenient). We didn't find too many restaurants in close proximity to the house, however it did ensure the evenings and nights were quiet for a good evening of relaxing and a good night of sleep. The neighborhood felt very safe.

We would absolutely recommend this location to anyone considering it. We felt for the price, it was a great value. Eugenie was wonderful!

Mayeres House was our HOME in Brussels!

  • 5 of 5

I had selected a few rentals to show my husband in Brussels when we were planning our trip. When he saw the Mayeres House, he said, “That one.” Didn’t even consider any of the other options.

We had such a good time and the pleasures began with Eugénie’s lovely responses to our questions, her solicitude for our comforts and needs, everything. She was there to answer questions about transportation to and from the airport and the little concerns about food shopping and so on.

Once we arrived at the Mayeres House, Eugénie, Ben, their adorable children and sweet old dog made us feel at home. I had an unexpected problem with Verizon and accessing my email and while Ben couldn’t fix the problem he was sympathetic and supportive and made the ordeal easier to bear. He also wrote me out a list of the most fabulous food and wine sellers. Don’t miss Rob’s Gourmet—all kinds of delicacies there and it’s a fairly easy trip by bus. The Halal butcher around the corner is very good, and there are a number of nearby shops that sell excellent fresh produce.

The apartment is well appointed and extremely comfortable. The wifi is dependable, the kitchen is functional, the television has good channels and the all-important BBC, the bed is firm and the household washing machine and dryer a blessing. The location is excellent. While we started by being dependent on the Métro, we soon discovered a preference for trams 92 and 93 and buses 63, 65 and 66.

While the apartment is outside the “Centre” it is still central. And there is so much to do in Brussels and beyond. We made day trips to Bruges, Ghent and Antwerp. (Central Station is, generally speaking, more pleasant than North Station and they are functionally interchangeable.) We haunted museums, explored Art Nouveau architecture and had a fabulous morning at the Belgian Comic Strip Centre – Museum. The Mayeres House is a place one can really settle into—and were I to come back to Brussels, I would certainly try to come back to the Mayeres House.

Great apartment, would stay there anytime again!

  • 5 of 5

If I ever go to Brussel for a few days again, I will certainly stay in the Mayeres House. The apartment is very spacious, with a nice bathroom and a separat bedroom. After a few hours it feels like home. Staying with small children is not a problem. The owners are extrem nice; helpful but not pushy. I cannot think about anything to complain really. :) Book the apartment and you will be happy with that choice!
