About Pat Roclaw and Harry Lang
The current owner has opened up the property to birders and other naturalists interested in hiking and exploring the natural wonders of the grounds following in the tradition of the former owner "Doc" Potter, local beloved veterinarian.
Pat Roclaw and Harry Lang purchased this Farmhouse in 2003
Why Pat Roclaw and Harry Lang chose Salem
In the 1800's, the entire 100 acres was farmed. In the 1920's, a stream bisecting the farmland was overrun by beavers, who dammed the stream causing it to overflow into the surrounding area. In the 1970's, the naturalist owner, "Doc" Potter, a veterinarian, took this flooding as an opportunity to create a wetlands. Today, this beautiful marsh is home to great blue herons, kingfishers, mallards, otters and white-tailed deer. Milkweed, cat-of-nine tails, thistle (nijer) and many species of grasses are abundant.
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We love the peace, quiet and serenity of the property. This lovely farmhouse dates back to 1794, yet has all the updates of a 21st century home. We enjoy sitting on the deck in the summer (shaded by the 200-year-old maple tree) and sitting in front a roaring fire in the winter.

What a wonderful weekend!
My favorite was eating breakfast on the beautiful deck overlooking the pond watching the sunrise and the geese migrating 🤗
Cozy and Comfy
We had a very nice stay at the farm. We were out and about during the day so it worked out nicely to come back and relax for the evenings. The property is quaint and comfy and we had everything we needed.
Very Very Peaceful
Super nice labor day weekend at this farmhouse. Thanks to the owners for sharing this property.
Our stay
The property and location are nice. We loved the ponds and the quiet area.
The kitchen was fully equipped. We are giving this house only 3 stars because the house had the feeling as if the owners left so we can come and use it. There were used towels and bath robes hanging in the bathroom. The bathroom cabinets were full of personal items such as medicine, pills, nail cutters, small shampoo samples etc. There were bills sitting on the kitchen table, clothes in all the closets, left food in the fridge, used soap in the shower. We felt as if we came to somebody’s house and not a rental place.
Great place for a family, even if just a short weekend.
We got a last minute invite to a wedding over in Manchester, VT, so we looked for a place to stay nearby. This home was about 35 min away which was perfect. The farmhouse was great. Our group was 4 adults and 2 small children, and there was able space and privacy for all of us. The home is an older farmhouse but has a good amount of modern amenities. It is set back off the main road and is very quiet. I did some early morning fishing to the sound of cows mooing at a nearby farm. While we were only there 2 nights, it was a refreshing getaway, very much recommended. We hope to return!
Beautiful Setting
Beautiful property with charming old farm house. Had a wonderful stay. Thank you!
