Wissett is in a conservation area with a 12th Century church. The Wissett Plough village pub, within a stone's throw of the Studio, is well worth a visit. The market town of Halesworth, about 2 miles away, has a pedestrian thoroughfare, a variety of shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs. Halesworth Railway Station has links to London Liverpool Street, Norwich and Beccles, gateway to the Norfolk Broads. Adjacent is the Halesworth & District Museum. The Golf Club situated just outside Halesworth is open to non residents. For music and art lovers a visit to The Cut is a must; enjoy theatre, dance, comedy, cinema, workshops and interesting art exhibitions. The Cut has a cafeteria and licensed bar. The Studio is ideally placed to explore the stunning unspoilt coastline of Suffolk and to visit Southwold, Walberswick, Dunwich, RSPB Minsmere and Aldeburgh, not forgetting Snape Maltings, famous for its concert hall, galleries, shops, restaurants and monthly Farmers’ Market. A short drive away from the Studio is St Peter’s Brewery specialising in hand crafted beers; enjoy dining at St Peter’s Hall, an historic building dating from 13th Century.
About Paul and Jane Parry
Life-long lovers of Suffolk, Jane and Paul moved to the area from London over ten years ago. It was the amazing variety of landscape that drew them – from wild, never-ending shore lines and estuaries, to wetlands teeming with wild life. Time-warped little villages off the beaten track sit in lush hedgerow- lined country and flower rich meadows. There is art, music and theatre aplenty for those who need a change from field and beach. Come and stay in their small (but perfectly formed!) and beautifully appointed Beck Cottage Studio in one such lovely village. It‘s perfect for a short break or a week or two at any time of the year. Our cottage is adjacent to the Studio and we take great pleasure in greeting our guests where possible. We are on hand should the need arise.
Paul and Jane Parry purchased this studio in 2012
Why Paul and Jane Parry chose Wissett
We love the history of our house and Studio and living in this delightful rural village. No.33 formed part of the village smithy with No.32, Forge House, Old Forge Cottage and dates back to the late 18th and early 19th century. Part of our house was at one time a shop and sold petrol.
