Why Marilly Morton chose Packwood
We love the mountains, and Packwood is very like Switzerland, only the mountains are smaller and farther apart. It is in the center of Gifford Pinchot Nat'l Forest, 7 miles from the southern entrance to Mt. Rainier Nat'l Park, and surround by Tatoosh, William O Douglas, and Goat Rocks Wilderness areas, offering year round recreational activities. There is a constant flow of wildlife including: elk, coyotes, raccoon, fox, black bear, bald eagles, beaver and more, and .
What makes this Chalet unique
I love the outdoors and it doesn't get more outdoors than this: set in tall timbers, Hall Creek singing water mysteries at the falls behind the house, private hot tub, star studded sky, passing elk, peeks of Mt. Rainier. . . what a combination! Private, cozy, comfortable and AFFORDABLE all at the same time. It's a great place for dreaming! We have 4 houses on adjacent properties, and there have been a couple occasions when all the houses were full, forcing us to rent local hotel rooms. It was more expensive in the hotel with far less amenities and privacy, so why would you want to stay anywhere else?

Check in was easy and everything that was spelled out in the welcome packet made everything go smoothly. The house was perfect for my wife and I and we had a great time in the Packwood area.
Would love to host you again in the future WB. Thank you for being a great guests.
My sister and I stayed here for 3 nights, and it was perfect for what we needed.
Would love to have you again, thank you for being great guests.
We enjoyed this little Mountainside Chalet! The directions to the place were very specific ( and helpful!). The kitchen was well stocked! It was a wonderful location and an overall lovely place to stay!!
This was the ideal base camp for four days of hiking around Mount Rainier, but with the soft bed and the hot tub, it was more like glamping. There were daddy-long-legs in the corners, but no other critters keeping me company. Minor condition problems: the dining chairs were a bit wobbly, and the hot tub jets would not turn on except to bring it back up to temperature. Check-in was easy, phone GPS was able to find the little turn from the highway, wifi worked perfectly, and the window AC unit was adequate for the space. I appreciated the little touches such as the ice cube trays and teapot provided. I was very comfortable and would stay again.
Dear Shannon, You were a pleasure to host! We try to make our houses a home away from home, glad you enjoyed the little extras.
We live next right next door to the chalet and find it impossible to keep the "Daddies" out. The price of living among the trees me thinks.
Small but functional
It’s located close to National Park. It had all the amenities needed. The kitchen sink needed some repair & the hot tub felt a little dirty. My Apple devices didn’t work with the wi-fi, but my husband Samsung did ,as long as the door was open. Over all it was functional and I would stay there again.
