About this property

Welcome to Le Bijou De Capendu, a true gem in the South of France! This completely renovated home, with modern furnishings, is situated at the very heart of Capendu, a village circulade at the foot of Mount Alaric. With magnificent views over the vineyards and conveniently located to all the tourist attractions, our home is a perfect vacation spot for 2-5 guests. Positioned next to 10th century ruins and belltower, the village offers all of the basic amenities, including a community pool and epicerie, boulangerie, and the nearby town of Trebes has additional restaurants, supermarkets and shops to explore.

With a bright and comfortable living/dining area with TV and wifi, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and WC, sleeping 4-5, Le Bijou has all the amenities you need to make your holiday comfortable. Capendu is conveniently located 15 minutes from Carcassonne and it's airport (budget flights from the UK and other European cities) and train station (with trains to Barcelona and Paris). The international airport of Toulouse is 70 minutes drive away. The beautiful city of Narbonne and the Mediterranean is 30 minutes away, and the spectacular Cathar sites and wine region of the Languedoc Roussillon region are all within a short drive.

For outdoor enthusiasts, the Canal du Midi and the Aude River are a short 2km walk away, and mountain biking and hiking trails are close by. Lac Jouarre, offering swimming, is within a short drive from Capendu.

Location atypique mais c'est ce qui fait son charme

location situé au point culminant du village de CAPENDU, tout en face de l'église actuel et ancienne typique des villages de l'Aude, difficile d'accès en voiture mais qui en fait son charme ! Bien située pour visiter la Région quoiqu'un peu loin de la mer. Un véritable lit ou un canapé lit digne de ce nom dans la pièce passante du haut serait une réelle plus-value ;-) ! Communication avec le gérant lointaine mais efficace.

I am British born, raised in South Africa and living in Nashville, USA! My love for France and the French people goes back to an early age when I studied French in school, was an au pair in Chambery at the age of 18, worked at EuroDisney (Disneyland Paris) and lived in beautiful Paris from 1992-1995. I visited the Languedoc region in 2008, fell in love and decided to own a house in this beautiful region. Le Bijou is our home away from home, and I hope it will become yours too.

Why they chose this property

With my family of 5 (2 adults and 3 teenagers), we struggled to find a home that could accommodate our odd number. I specifically furnished this house so that other families will not encounter that issue. From a romantic getaway for 2, to a family of 3-5, Le Bijou is an ideal size and the location is central to everything!

What makes this property unique

With it's quirky floor plan, low beams in certain rooms, an updated decor and the modern technology of TV and wifi, Le Bijou has charm unlike any other. Step out the front door and you have the magnificent 10th century ruin of the church in front of you. Wake up to the bells ringing in the morning and enjoy the view over the terracotta tiled roofs of the village below.

Location is everything, and Capendu is truly a short drive to everything : the airport, the Cite de Carcassonne, the toll roads to Toulouse, Perpignan, the beaches and the Spanish border.
