This lovely house is ideal for families and friends wishing to explore this stunning area within the Lake District National Park, which in 2017 became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is has been designed as an upside down house to make the most of the beautiful Lake Windermere and Langdale Pikes mountain view, which can be seen from the lounge and kitchen.

Bowness on Windermere
Myself my family stayed in this fantastic house just at the top of the hill leading into Bowness. It was absolutely spotlessly clean and and all the bedrooms had en-suites which was a real bonus. The beds were extremely comfortable and made for a great nights sleep. The living area upstairs was a real wow factor with views across the lake and plenty of seating and relaxing furniture after a day out walking. We had a truly wonderful holiday and would definitely stay there again. It’s was perfect.

It was rather nice after I sorted out how to get in, the kitchen floor needs seeing to it is almost falling through. The beds have seen better days and were not what I would expect from a property with that letting value. I also object to being told to strip beds etc. especially after paying a £140 extra fees (we always strip the beds on leaving) but we enjoyed the stay.

We fell in love with Windermere
We had a wonderful stay at Georgie’s property. She was SO attentive and answered all of my questions very quickly (and I felt horrible because she had answered them all before I asked by leaving important notes around the house!) Windermere and surrounding areas are truly the heart and soul of England. We loved being in easy walking distance to coffee, breakfast, and shops. Our kids are old enough that they could go off on their own and my husband and I would enjoy a quiet breakfast each morning. The house had fresh carpets and everything was so nice and clean with a lovely view of the lake! Georgie’s description of the property and photos are exactly as described. The only thing I would add that is hard to depict in a photo is that the kitchen is very small and disconnected from the rest of the house. We cooked all of our evening meals in, so it was notable to us. Everything functioned well and we had all the tools we needed to make our meals! And as an added plus we could walk to the grocery store each day! We were traveling from the US so it will be a while before we can come visit your lovely country again, but we hope not TOO long! Thank you so much!!

Glad I found this gem
This was a great and fairly last minute find. The house was clean and felt safe in these strange times. Decent décor and furniture (with the added bonus of Christmas decorations when we stayed). Great location- easy access without a far to Bowness and Windermere. Would definitely stay again

About the host

Host profile image
Georgie and her family love living in The Lake District and have an abundant amount of local knowledge for days out, walking, cycling and other outdoor activities, as well as all the best places to eat and drink and we are happy to share all this with you, so please just email or text us during your stay.

Why they chose this property

The Lake District is a must stay for anyone visiting the UK or looking for a beautiful part of the UK to holiday in as there is so much to see and do as well as appreciating our stunning scenery.

Windermere is the ideal base for The Lake District as it has excellent restaurants, specialist & boutique shops, tea shops, wine bars & old traditional English pubs. From The Pier you can enjoy a trip around Lake Windermere hopping on and off at the traditional villages or ride the Lakeside steam train. There are lots for the kids to do like fun farms, Go Ape, a zoo, the aquarium etc. Alternatively from our front door you are already only minutes away from breath-taking views and many beautiful scenic walks, hikes and bike rides. But if you fancy a change from all that you can go climbing, sailing, golfing, fishing, horse riding, off roading, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking or visit the many historic houses, safari parks, award winning gardens, the list goes on with something for all.

What makes this property unique

The house is in the perfect location in a quiet yet central position within the Windermere area only a 5 minute gentle stroll to Lake Windermere and a few minutes’ walk down to the village of Bowness (on the Lake) or 20 minutes walk up the hill to Windermere village.

All our guests rooms are located on the ground floor so no struggling with any luggage! Unlike many cottages with a central location in the area, we have private and secure parking for approx. 3 cars within our grounds.

And all our bedrooms have their own en suites (2 with shower rooms and 1 with a huge bathroom) so no queuing for the bathroom or the loo at any time! The master has its own TV.

We have free Wi-Fi, are dog friendly and we have a large enclosed patio outside area to enjoy if you want to have a BBQ etc.
