Fabulous!!
We had a lovely week in this beautifully renovated property. Stunning views from bedrooms, kitchen and terrace. Tastefully decorated and fitted out with everything you need. Lovely host who was available if needed and even gave us a tour of their small winery. Absolutely recommend staying here but beware there are some steep steps!

A wonderful place to stay - surpassed all our expectations.
This is a quirky, very attractive and comfortable place to stay to enjoy all the delights that the Minervois area (and beyond) has to offer. The apartment has been beautifully renovated and offers private accommodation (separate bedroom and bathroom) for two couples or a family. As the photos on the website show, the view looking southwest from all the rooms and the terrace is marvellous. We particularly enjoyed the changing views of the mountains, the beautiful sunsets and, on clear nights, the fabulous starry sky. While situated in a small Medieval hilltop village, there is easy access to larger towns for shopping, restaurants and sightseeing. Most of all, Juliet and Simon were very considerate and helpful. And they also make fabulous wine! We used our four week stay as an opporunity to explore a large area of the département, stretching from Puigcerdà in the South West, on the Spanish border (at the end of the Yellow Train Line) to Labastide-Rouairoux in the North, and Pont-du-Gard in the East. This geography is wondrously endowed with stunning scenery, old churches and abbeys, beautiful villages, and delicious wines and local produce. Hence, we highly recommend 13 due du Fort as an ideal base from which to explore this delightful region of France. Heartfelt thanks to Juliet and Simon for always being cheerfully available to provide help and advice, and never being intrusive. Special thanks as well to Matilda for inviting us to the local vignerons’ celebration at the Cave du Vignerons. We hope to return one day. Sally and Peter, Brisbane, Australia PS: A most enjoyable aspect of our stay was discovering the high quality of the Minervois wines and of the sparkling wines from nearby Limoux.

Everything was fantastic
It was such a privilege to stay in house dating back to medieval times, beautifully renovated to a very high standard and spectacular views from every room. the owners are lovely and provided everything to make our stay fabulous including a welcome gift of wine and gourmet delicacies. Short walk to the village shop/cafe for bread & croissants and within 10 minutes drive to major supermarches. Excellent location within easy driving distance to delightful villages along the Canal du Midi and also larger cities Carcassone & Beziers. Thank you for everything, definitely one of the top 5 places we have stayed in all over France

A lovely house of character with wonderful views
Juliet and Simon have done a wonderful job restoring this historic home. It is very characterful but also comfortable with a good, well equipped kitchen, good beds and linen and nice bathrooms. The terrace which overlooks the valley is very private and sheltered and a lovely place to sit and take in the expansive views. Juliet and Simon are generous and welcoming hosts. Very highly recommended. Chris and Eric - April 2024

About the host

Hosted by Juliet and Simon Ingman

Host profile image
Juliet and Simon are originally from the UK and moved to the beautiful Languedoc region in 2004. Juliet is a Master of Wine and wine educator and loves communicating her passion for the region and its wines. Simon renovates historic houses and also his small collection of classic cars and motor bikes. Together they make wine at their family vineyard Domaine La Tasque in the neighbouring village of Mailhac.

Why they chose this property

We have lived in the Languedoc since 2004 and love the relaxed way of life here and the beautiful scenery. We finally settled in the village of Mailhac but have always liked Pouzols and know it well as our daughter went to school here. So when we heard that a house was available for sale in the oldest part of the village, we had to have a look. We have renovated several properties over the years, some of which have been in a sorry state of repair and required lots of imagination! This house just felt right, the minute we walked through the door. Although it needed updating, (there was no bathroom) it was easy to see how it could be restored to its former glory. Restoring it has been a pleasure and we love it when our guests appreciate it as much as we do!

What makes this property unique

The views from the house are very special, particularly on a clear day when you can see the Pyrenees. Sitting on the terrace with a glass of wine, watching the sun go down over the mountains is a joy.

This house has oodles of character. The walls are 2 feet thick and there are stone walls or stone detailing in the kitchen, first floor bedroom and the sitting room which. It is charming and a bit higgledy piggelty. Nothing is quite straight. If you like straight lines and a sleek, modern look then this house is probably not for you. However we have restored it with our guests comfort in mind so it has all mod cons.
