About this property

Coastal lifestyle! Oceanfront apartment !Huge deck and dock 30 min to downtown.

This fabulous waterfront apartment on Indian Arm in North Vancouver is just 30 minutes from beautiful downtown Vancouver, one of the most beautiful city in the world!
Located on Indian Arm, a 10,000 year old fiord in a West Coast rain forest, the waterfront community of Woodlands is one of Vancouver's best kept secrets, not many people know we are here and we like it that way! Woodlands is one of Vancouver's oldest summer communities which consists of waterfront homes accessed by a 5 km country road which winds its way through the forests of Mt. Seymour, a provincial park, well known for its snowshoeing, skiing, golfing, hiking, and mountain biking, so don't forget your bike! Woodlands is much less crowded than Deep Cove and gives you that remote feeling without being remote.
There is an 80 foot cement deck with gazebo and bar-b-q for your own use. There is a 50 foot dock which holds the kayaks and rowboat as well as 2 gravity chairs, perfect for sunbathing and wildlife watching. The dock is shared with the owners to access their boat. Watch seals, seabirds, yachts, and fish boats make their way up Indian Arm to the beautiful Wigwam Inn, a private yacht club with a scandalous past! Across from the Wigwam is the majestic Granite Falls Marine Park.
Bring your scuba gear as there is excellent diving right out the front door! 2 kayaks and a Walker Bay rowboat are available free of charge. Spend an afternoon exploring the many marine parks home to black bears, bald eagles, and two salmon runs a year. Power boat rentals are available at Seycove Marina in Deep Cove.
We are very close to 3 local ski mountains, Seymour, which is a 25 minute drive from our door to the top of the mountian, is a great family mountain with high speed lift, lots of terrain, snowshoe trails, it is avery economical compared to Whistler which is 200.00 for one lift ticket! Not to mention the cost of accomodations! Seymour, Grouse, and Cypress mountains are all great value for families. A family can easily ski all 3 mountains during their stay. Cypress also has lovely cross country trails.
The picturesque village of Deep Cove is just around the corner. It is home to some beautiful shops, including The lovely gallery at the Deep Cove Cultural Center, 4 restaurants, 3 great coffee houses as well as the world famous forest hike to Quarry Rock Lookout and Baden Powell Trail, which stretches for 50 km, all the way to Horseshoe Bay. The Seymour Art Gallery, Shaw Theatre, Northlands Golf Course, Seycove Marina Boat Rentals, Arm Reach Bistro, Honey's Donuts, Sorry Coffee, Ahoy, Oursi Coffee, Parkgate Community Centre and Library are all close by.
Come and immerse yourself in a waterfront living experience without breaking the bank. Room rates are between 250.00 and 290.00 Canadian a night, only a 75.00, one of the least expensive on any vacation rental website. Most suitable for 2 to 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children. Not suitable for children under 4. One king bed and 2 double beds. Check in is 3pm and check out is 10 AM. If you are looking for a fantastic vacation spot close to all of what Vancouver has to offer or are working short term in Vancouver, this is a great place for a home base. Come stay at an unbelievably beautiful waterfront location close to the City of Vancouver and our local mountains. We are literally a sea to sky accomodation!

Totally AWESOME! We are a small family and found this stay simply wonderful! The area is lovely with the drive to the unit gorgeous! Putting the kid down for sleep was easy as it was a quiet area! A great stepping off point for whatever your heart desires! From here we saw the Aquarium, visited a few beaches, hit the "REC room", Capilano suspension bridge, and numerous little expeditions! This place had wonderful character as well. Super tastefully decorated and comfortable with an open concept living style! This was our first property rental vs hotel stays so we didn't know what to expect at all! The hosts were straightforward and friendly with a daily check in to make sure everything was going ok, and if we needed anything, you can tell they care. We wont ever do the hotel route again! Thank you so much for having us! Next time we will utilize the dock a bit more and bring a runabout with us to explore the coast a bit more! What more can you ask from a stay? it truly has it all. One last point...The view from the main guestroom was gorgeous, waking up next to the ocean and all that entails really left an impression on our small family! Thanks again and we hope to stay again soon!

Beautiful, unique ,waterfront home
We've stayed in many Vrbo properties in our extensive travels and Elaine and Tony's waterfront home is by far one of our favorites. The location is so peaceful and the drive here is beautiful and still only 10 mins from stores and restaurants. The house was great , well stocked and the view from the upstairs bedroom was amazing and loved hearing the ocean at night. Was so cool to sit on the dock and watch all the seals and otters popping up checking us out and all the different seabirds too! Tony took us on a tour on his boat to see some waterfalls and old buildings and heard about the history of the area-alot of fun. And to top it off we caught 14 crabs in the trap on our last night!! We had our son and his wife and the new inlaws visit and they absolutely loved it! Thankyou so much Elaine and Tony for your hospitality , great conversations and a great new experience for us. We would love to come back next year!! Kent and Kim

Fabulous water-front views, quirky property
We enjoyed our stay along the very scenic Indian Arm. Access to the water and use of the kayaks is great. The well admired town of Deep Cove is approx 15-20 minutes by kayak, and about the same by car (if you can find parking). We loved sitting outside to eat, the patio area has a gas BBQ and a sturdy covered area, as well as two tables for dining. The property is best suited to a family group as access to the only toilet, and shower (separate) is by walking between the two downstairs double beds and pulling a curtain for privacy. Primary bedroom is upstairs. Also worth considering, one of the two double beds has a low ceiling, so this is not advisable for tall people. And presently, the washing machine and dryer are within the owner's property and you must arrange a mutually convenient time for access. As we struggled to find a time when we and the owners were available, they kindly collected the washing from our suite and washed for us. We are advised that a washing machine will be installed in the guest suite next year. Altogether 4 stars, the setting is hard to beat, but a couple of quirks needed to work around.

Elaine and Tony have been married for 30 years and have 2 grown children. Elaine is originally from Halifax and lived on the ocean in St Margaret's Bay, Nova Scotia. She came to Vancouver and obtained her Bachelor of Social Work Degree as well as a Chartered Herbalist diploma.Tony is a city boy born and raised in Vancouver. He has been a financial advisor for 35 years.Together they did an extensive renovation on the property after it was sold to them by the Rubbermaid heiress who moved on to build on Cortes Island. They have been doing vacation rentals in this location for 21 years.

Why they chose this property

We both really wanted to be on the water and as we could not move to Nova Scotia because of Tony's work, we set out to find a waterfront home close to downtown Vancouver and found it on Indian Arm, North Vancouver.

What makes this property unique

The best part about staying here is the view as well as the deck and the dock! There is also a gazebo and barbq The apartment feels like you are on top of the water. The apartment is very spacious and comes with lots of extras like the kayaks, life jackets as well as countless books and a few children's books and toys such as lego. We are happy to show you how to use the boats and to show you the trails on Mt Seymour. West Coast photographer, Andy Chamberlayne's, work is featured throughout the apartment. I honestly do not think you will find a nicer place in Vancouver and it is affordable for families.
