About this property

Coburg Villas- Stunning house with amazing views, over looking the harbour

Great location to investigate a beautiful part of Devon. 5 min walk from the harbour, shops and the stunning 'Verity' statue.

Designed with couples in mind this is the ideal romantic getaway in an upmarket, stylish house refurbished to exacting standards.

Originally a four bedroom house the house now offers open plan sumptuous accommodation, reminiscent of warehouse conversions, with access to outside space and stunning views on the first and second floors with a roof terrace and balcony

This perfectly located holiday home is set back off Fore Street in the heart of the bustling seaside town of Ilfracombe with its heritage harbour and quay. The many pubs, restaurants and shops that create a lively, friendly atmosphere are only a couple of minutes walk away.

From inside - and outdoors - guests are offered fabulous views of Ilfracombe harbour and the rugged coastline beyond. You can even see Damien Hirst’s impressive “Verity” sculpture through the stunning arched window in the main living area. There is even a look out at the top through a 'secret staircase' from the master bedroom.

Technically a 1 bed room property set over 4 floors there is a sofa bed that could be made up, but we ask that you bring your own linen.

The accommodation is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped with internet access and bath towels included.
This property offers the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful area of North Devon.

'This place is need of attention, the owners should take a visit & expereince the problems!!'
On arrival our first impression was poor as the attached house is derelict & has not been lived in for for many years with boarded up window & inhabitted by pigeons with mess everywhere. We had no problems with the numerous steps leading to the property although we can understand this being unsuitable for many. The propert itself is well situated in the town with amazing views but regretably that is the only positive point. It has several external spaces/patios that could have been used but they are covered in seagull mess and are not usable, plus as soon as you go outside the nesting seagulls on the roof make such a racket as they are protecting their young. We took a bbq but couldn't use it actually we never sat outside despite the weather being great, such a shame!. No sure why the last review listed on this site is date 2017 but in one of the reviews the owner did give assurances that netting was being added to the roof to elimante this on-going problem, clearly nothing has been done. Not only do they create a mess but it is vertually impossible to get a decent nights sleep with the constant noise, the bedroom is on the top floor with the nesting pigeons diretly above. There is a suggestions box inside for guests to make comments, we look inside it had one hand written note of complaints from a previuos visitor in August 2018, why is it still in the box? Does the manger/owner care about their visitors & customers? It is obviuos that the owners of this house do not use it themselves and we would suggest that they should stay a few nights to undersatnd the issues which could be easily rectified with some care & attention. The inside is not cleaned well at all with dust laying on most surfaces, multiple cobwebs and mouldy plants. The kitchen has no microwave, no freezer or freezer compartment, the fridge door is hanging off, only one wine glass, the four mugs were so grubby & cracked you would not used them to wash paint brushes so we have to go out to buy some. Someone needs to listen to the feedback and act on it as it is not fair when we look forward to a pleasant place to use during our annual holiday, the property overall is very poor and is a stain on HomeAway reputation who we have used previously with positive experiences.

Unique
This beautiful home as been well restored and developed. Rooms are spacious and the bath/shower room was great. The house was clean and the linen was crisp and fresh. It is in a good location and all facilities in Ilfracombe are in walking distance. The 44 steps up to the front door were challenging to ageing knees! Would suggest packing small bags and cases when visiting. Noisy seagulls are part of the seaside scene! Angela was very helpful with a couple of internet issues we had. Thanks for a great holiday!!

Quirky property with amazing views
The house is approached via 44 steep steps up from the road, and there is no dedicated parking - only council car parks nearby. Once you get to the house, the views over Ilfracombe are amazing. The house itself is unusually laid out, with a first floor lounge overlooking the town, and a quirky bathroom, complete with a roll-top bath in front of a bay window. The second floor open plan bedroom is 28 stairs up from the kitchen. Minus points - no microwave; overgrown garden; no DVD player; aggressive nesting seagulls made it impossible to use the second floor sundeck. Plus points - stunning views over the harbour and hills; great location close to the harbour; the house has clearly been modernised with care and style.
