Charming historical 1950's building across the street from the Hilton Hotel
About Carrie Sandvik
We live in Eagle River, just about 13 miles from Anchorage. We love to travel, and when we do, we prefer to stay in a place that has a kitchen, because we prefer to make our own breakfast, and enjoy an entire pot of coffee before we leave to go enjoy the daily activities of vacation. We bought this unit so that we, ourselves, could enjoy the city. We have had a great time finding furnishings, and artwork to make this unit feel cozy. We are still looking for fun items to decorate the place, so if you see changes in the pictures, you will know we just found something new that we liked better. We are new at this, but we have tried to stock the place with all needed items. If we missed something, we hope our guests will let us know, so we can do better. We hope our guests will enjoy staying here, as much as we do.

Why Carrie Sandvik chose Downtown
Why this property? Well, we just love this old historical building. We adore the residents who occupy this place, and the pride that the owners take in this charming old place. We love everything about downtown Anchorage and enjoy our own weekends going out to downtown events. We love being walking distance to everything, unless I am wearing heels or it is really cold. In that case, we call a taxi to take us the short distances we are going. There is usually a taxi directly across the street at the Hilton Hotel, and they are more than happy to drive just a few blocks.
What makes this Apartment unique
There is a tour planning business in the building, on the street level and they keep very late hours. We have not visited the shop, but we walk past it often, and it is open late. There is a gift shop in the Hilton Hotel, selling small necessities and personal hygiene supplies, snacks and soft drinks. It is quite convenient being so close.

Great unit! Great location!
The unit and hosts were great. However an issue I had, that is out of their control is the upstairs neighbor coming home in the middle of the night (2am) and being very loud every night. I do not know if this person lives there or was renting like me. Other than that the unit was clean, the perfect location in downtown that was easily accessible to everything and was very safe and secure. The weekend market that was next-door in the parking lot was fantastic!
Great location with easy access to sightseeing!!!
I was in Anchorage for a work trip, but planned on staying a few days to explore beautiful Alaska. The location of the condo was great. I could walk to the train station, explore downtown and jump quickly on the highways north or south. Definitely recommend! Thank you Carrie for your hospitality!!!
outstanding location, clean, comfy
Super location, clean, and comfortable. Excellent alternative to pricy downtown hotels.
Thanks so much for taking the time to post a review.
I hope you come back and stay again sometime.
Nice efficient apartment within walking distance to everything. Carrie was super responsive.
Great fun at Iditarod and run with the reindeer!
Thanks so much! Please come back and stay in the condo again.
Very nice apartment had everything we needed
Carrie was very nice , we had a great trip . The spot is located in walking distance to almost anything .
Comfort & Convenience
What a wonderful place to stay for our Anchorage visit, no regrets. This place was convenient to everything in town and, since Anchorage isn't that large, it's easily accessible to all other areas. A few minutes and you're out of town. The comfort of the mattress was really a great addition to the comfort of the accommodations. The host is kind, informative and accessible. When/if we come back we will try to stay here again. The shower takes 6.3 minutes to warm up, plan on it; this should be an added bonus to everyone... slow down. 😊
Across the street from the Hilton Hotel. In the heart of downtown Anchorage.
