Traditional local three store family house, from early nineteenth century, with a garden facing south, two balconies and a patio. You have all the attractions of the city center in a walking distance, but still have your own private house. There is a kitchen, sitting room, piano room and dining area on the first floor, with direct access to the garden, two bedrooms, a bathroom and a toilet on the second floor and a grand master bedroom on the third floor.

The master bedroom is on the third floor, but o is an excellent adjustable double bed in the sleeping room, a fully equipped kitchen with a dining area and a sitting room, where even a grand piano is complimentary. The bathroom has a shower, a washing machine and a dryer.

Really nice place!!!!

We stayed there for 10 days in may 2016, close to everything dowtown, really nice house, everything was perfect!! Didn't meet the owners as they were in vacation but had left us instructions and helpfull tips. We had no problem at all with the place, it's just perfect!!! Would recommend and would go back anytime :)

Wonderful holida (can we move in please?)

This is a beautiful little property (a detached former stable block) in the owners’ garden. It is extremely well kitted out and is perfect for a couple. The owners have done a wonderful job restoring it. I must mention our hosts at this point - they are a lovely couple, happy to help and advise and very friendly, but not intrusive. They are happy to let you have your privacy, but will stop for a friendly chat when your paths cross or if you have a question. The garden face of the building is pretty much all glass and your hosts are happy for you to sit outside, but at no time did we feel we lacked privacy.

The bed is the most comfortable we have ever slept in - just what we needed after a day exploring the Icelandic countryside, and the location perfect. Really close to everything but very peaceful. The kitchen area is well laid out and has everything you need, although there are so many good local restaurants with reasonable prices that we only used it for snacks and hot drinks (by the way we are both vegetarians and had no problem finding something nice to eat).

The accommodation is very well equipped, even to the provision of a baby grand piano! (and yes, your hosts are very happy for you to play it). The building is also well heated using the traditional Icelandic method of under floor geo-thermal hot water. You will be able to keep the windows open for fresh air without getting chilly.

To summarise then this is a lovely property in an excellent location made all the more enjoyable by the efforts of our hosts. We were delighted we chose to stay here and can whole heartedly recommend it.

Beautiful property with a perfect location.

The property is lovely with very nice decor. It has everything you need as if you were at home. Furthermore, it is in a perfect location for everything in downtown Reykjavik.

During my stay, it was very clean and well maintained. The owners were great and very responsive when I contacted them about staying a few extra days. I would stay here again and I highly recommend this property for a visit to Reykjavik.

Lovely small luxury spot - full privacy downtown R

This guesthouse is a real treasure. Located in downtown Reykjavik, it is nevertheless hidden enough for a calm stay and a full privacy feeling. Once an old stable, the house has been completely renovated and decorated in a very personal atmosphere- every corner shows the owner's love to arts of any kind. You will find everything that is needed in a fully equipped flat, in perfect condition and clean. Needless to confirm once more the friendlyness of the owners- they made us feel more than welcome and took the greatest care of us, without disturbing our privacy.

We stayed at the house for the second time now and for sure we will come back. So hopefully the good recommendations will leave us some days there...;-)

From the airport there is a flight bus going to the bus terminal in connection with all flights. From the bur terminal there it is a five minutes drive by taxi to the house. If you rent a car at the airport, follow the signs to Reykjavik city center. Grettisgata is easy to find, it is the street above Laugarvegur, the main shopping street.

There are excellent restaurants all around or in a walking distance from the house, with good food at moderate prices. Small shops and local bars are the asset of the area, as well as galleries, museums, cinemas. Live music and theatre can easily be found at a walking distance, at Harpa the music hall, and other venues in the center. Out door swimming pools are numerous in the city and there are golf courses around the City(18 holes).
