About Madame Ponselet

I look forward to welcoming guests to this flat. I work Burgundy and plan to live in this flat when I retire.

Madame Ponselet purchased this apartment in 2006

Why Madame Ponselet chose Lyon

I feel at home here. I sometimes rent it to share it with others, helping with the costs I have to assume. It is always a good occasion to meet very different people from almost all around the world.

What makes this apartment unique

It boasts a quiet location in the city centre.

It features large and well distributed rooms.

Public transports (train, underground, bus), shops and restaurants nearby are easily reachable.

The apartment was very spacious and based in a great location with plenty of good restaurants in walking distance yet far enough away to not be noisy.

Comfortable apartment - great hospitality

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a long weekend in this comfortable, quiet, and well appointed apartment. The location is excellent - close to transportation, shopping and attractions. The owner (Mme Ponselet) is most gracious and accommodating; providing many generous touches, making sure we were oriented to the city and attractions, and even ensuring we arrived from the train with our own personal guide!!! Lyon is a beautiful city and having this apartment as a home base made the visit relaxing and enjoyable.

Lovely apartment, generous hosts

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely apartment in the 6ieme! The hosts were very kind and generously left us fresh items for breakfast the next day since we arrived on a Sunday evening. They even included homemade jam that was delicious! The apartment was spacious and modern and included two complete bathrooms, one with a tub and one with a shower. There was plenty of space for the 6 of us, and each of our children had their own bed! We also appreciated the wifi, washer/dryer, and dishwasher. The only drawback was that it was very hot during our stay, and there was only one oscillating fan for the whole apartment. Other than that, it was a fantastic place, close to many great shops and restaurants and easy access to the metro. We would love to stay in this apartment again, and highly recommend it!

Great apartment, great location

  • 5 of 5

There were only three of us, but the apartment could easily have accommodated six people. The rooms were spacious and modern, and it was great to have two toilets and both a shower stall and a bath. Everything was clean and the washer, dryer and dishwasher all worked well.

The apartment is half a block from rue Tête d’Or, where there is an excellent delicatessen and caterer called Maison Verot, an excellent cheese shop and a good fruit and vegetable shop. At Cours Vittons, there is a good bakery (the baguette traditionelle is 30 cents more than the regular baguette, but worth it). Even the Franprix is above average. So you can eat well and fairly cheaply if you shop locally.

The metro is by the Franprix, and the stop is on Line A, which takes you to the most vigorous and exciting part of Lyon, the Presqu’Ile, which is French for peninsula, the part of Lyon located between the Rhone and Saone rivers.

And there’s a bonus: you can walk up in minutes to Parc de la Tête d’Or, which is a large and beautiful green space. The park has a free zoo, and a botanical garden I didn’t have time to visit, and a lake you can take row boats and pedalos on. You can also rent a cross between a bike and a car: both the driver and the person in the passenger seat pedal; there is room for a third person between these two, and two smallish children can fit in the baskets up front. I went on it three times with my son, and it was great. You travel the park much more easily than on foot, and you soon get to know it quite well.

One last thing: the proprietor (Mme Ponselet) is both kind and accommodating. When we arrived from Paris on May 2, she met us at our train at Part-Dieu station and walked us back to the apartment. This was especially kind, because our train happened to be 45 minutes late. However, she was not the least bit fazed by this, but carefully guided us through the apartment room by room, and provided many maps to help us orient ourselves in the neighborhood and in Lyon. I think it was in large part because of her that we managed to see as much of Lyon as we did. You will not regret renting this apartment. It’s a find.
