About Paul Granier

My family of four have lived in the North Dallas area for the better part of 20 years. All of us have grown up in Texas and my wife and I have gone to university in Texas. And now we run a staffing/search firm in Dallas. We like getting away from it all from time to time and this is one of the main reasons we bought this fantastic cabin.

Paul Granier purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Paul Granier chose Smithville

We bought this cabin because we were looking for a quick getaway place near water that was within easy reach of Dallas. We had looked and looked but had never found a place that had an attractive lake, a great lot and a beautiful cabin on it. When I saw this one, I knew that that we had found the one we had been looking for and bought it immediately. This cabin, bought brand new in 2014, was built with personal pride that shows. It is immaculately furnished. It sits on 2.8 acres of mostly wooded land. And the 30-acre+ Legacy Trails Cabins neighborhood will be all vacation rental cabins set on 2-3 acres each with views of trees, rolling hills, creeks, wildlife and the Upper Mountain Fork river. Trust me, I am sure you will love it as much as we did when we discovered it.

What makes this cabin unique

If you want a secluded, peaceful getaway that is still close to the action, look no further. This cabin is set on 2.8 acres and is completely private. The view from the back deck is amazing and the Mountain Fork River is accessible from two different locations. Fishermen will love this location, for sure. Also, the river makes for an incredible kayaking experience. Check out the pictures to get a feel for the section of river where Legacy Trails keeps the kayaks.

The cabin is very high end and the beautiful workmanship on both the inside and the outside of the cabin are simply amazing. Just check out the pictures of the family room and kitchen!

There are many outside sitting areas. From the full length front porch with swing, the back porch for those that only want a 'little' nature to the fire pit area for those that truly want to 'feel' the outdoors. Make sure to look up at night and see the stars like you have never seen before.

The master bedroom has a queen bed and the second bedroom has a full size bed. There is also a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room. The kitchen is fully equipped with the latest in appliances and conveniences and there is even a laundry room with a full size washer and dryer.

And being the gadget guy that I am, I could not do without an excellent surround sound system and Blu-ray DVD player. There is a whole assortment of movies and games to choose from, but no satellite TV service. Didn't you come here to enjoy the outdoors anyway?

But for those of you that cannot live without internet, wireless internet is available (please limit video streaming to one movie per day).

As far as phone service, AT&T Wireless and Pine Cellular work well from within the cabin.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We had a great stay. Thank you! Thank you for making our first Valentine's Day so great. We really appreciate the heart shaped decorations and the chocolates. Hope to come again soon.

Nice quiet place!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. We have 3 boys that are 12, 8, and 3 years old so the river access with the kayaks was awesome! The only thing I wish the cabin had was a little bigger bbq grill on the deck. Other than that it was an awesome stay!! Look forward to going back!

The property was fantastic, washer and dryer available, WiFi and plenty of pots and pans to cook.

I will suggest a gas gill to cook in rhe back porch.

Thank You

The place was great, kids had a lots of fun, first time kids experienced outdoor activities.

The place is a little too far from town. Need repair in the bath tub.

Owner's Response: Wow, really sorry to hear you had an issue in the bathroom! We did take a look and found that the shower handle was loose. We went ahead and replaced it, so that future guests will not have that issue. Glad you enjoyed your time at our cabin and hope you come again soon! Paul

A great escape!

  • 5 of 5

We wanted a weekend escape in the mountains of SE OK. Hillside Hideaway was perfect. The cabin is cozy and situated next to a river. The back porch looks out into a wooded area with a creek. All you can hear is birds and the light sound of the river. We put a fire in the fire pit on Saturday afternoon and enjoyed the day. Saturday morning we went and checked out the views on the Talimena Scenic Highway, which is north on 259. Worth the trip. The local management were really helpful and pleasant. There are other cabins nearby but not too close. The weather did not permit a kayaking experience but the river was easily accessible and not too far from this cabin. We absolutely enjoyed our short weekend. Definitely will be back! Shawn and Mike Curry
