A bungalow and villa 30 metres from the sea on a secluded beach! - Bungalow –

Bedrooms 1
Space 65 m²
Property type bungalow

Bungalow –

A large fully equipped bungalow with all comforts, a living room-kitchen and 1 bedroom upstairs for up to 5-6 people.

About the property

La Playita –

We invite you to come and discover our little paradise...

We are David and Aurélie, a French couple living in the Dominican Republic for awhile now!

The beach of your dreams with coconut trees is here!

Far from the tourism crowd, quiet and relaxation are guaranteed for couples, families and even friends!

La Playita is located 30 meters from the swimming. This little bay is yours and has over 1 kilometre of beach.

We also have a restaurant and we can offer you local and Western plates to enjoy on the beach. You can also enjoy our house cocktails facing the sea on a comfortable deck chair.

A charming bungalow and villa located on an exclusive, rugged and authentic property where it is possible to discover a variety of activities such as quad biking, motorbiking, horseback rides on the beach or through the mountain, a 9-hole golf course 20 minutes away (Playa Grande, rated the 4th most beautiful in the world), sea trips with Dominican fishermen in small boats for fishing or excursions (snorkelling) on a 24-foot speedboat.

There is also an organised tour of the Gri Gri Lagoon (UNESCO World Heritage Site), which has a forest of mangrove trees and the tour starts in the centre of Rio San Juan and goes all the way to the ocean, passing through caves and natural pools. There you will discover different species of birds and a strange but enchanting atmosphere...

For those who want to discover the country and nature, there are several wonderful sites. There are many national parks, such as Los Haïtises (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

There are also adventure activities such as hikes to the river or swimming under natural waterfalls. You can take 4x4 trips, horseback rides or walks to discover the exotic and lush nature around you.

There are rafting trips, canyoning or amusement parks where you can swim with the dolphins.

Between mid-January and mid-March you can also head out to the Samana Bay to admire the whales that migrate to the warmer waters of the Dominican Republic to give birth.

Obviously, one of the most popular activities are the discotheques where Dominicans and travellers meet under the sound of Bachata and Merengue (the two main types of music in the Dominican Republic) while sipping a 'cerveza' (beer) or a good local rum.

Perfect place to have a beach all to yourself and unwind from life!

  • 5 of 5

This property is perfect for those looking for something different than the resort experience. It is very rustic/natural so don't expect a hotel atmosphere. If that's what you're looking for, you need to look elsewhere. If you enjoy living simply and camping etc., then I highly recommend this place! Marianne and Fabian are fabulous hosts and will go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your stay and have all the information you need to be able to go explore the area and experience what the DR has to offer! Raquelle is also part of the team and does a fantastic job both cooking at the restaurant and cleaning up the bungalow. I don't speak much Spanish or any French, but they were all very patient and accommodating of my gringo Spanish! I've read many reviews of this place before going on my vacation and I'm going to try and summarize everything you'll need to make your vacation go smoothly:

1. This is the tropics and there are bugs - the mosquitos love me! I was well-prepared w/ 4x6 oz cans of bug spray, a citronella candle, an "OFF" fan, and mosquito bracelets. This all helped a lot. I still ended up with a bunch of bites, but much better than if i didn't have all my bug stuff. My husband and I were there for 9 days and used it all so stock up on the stuff!

2. Sunscreen - protect yourself. There's nothing worse than having radiation sickness on vacation!

3. Beach Towel!

4. If you really want to explore off-site, that will require you to rent a car and drive wherever you want to explore - be sure to get all the required insurance! Driving in the DR is quite an experience!

5. You should stock up on supplies even if you choose to rent a car b/c this is a remote location and while there are restaurants up/down the beach, sometimes it's just nice/easy to cook for yourself on the dual propane burner stove (they have basic cookware and dishes so simple meals are easy to prepare). Some basics to have are rice/beans/potatoes/sauces/onions/butter/oil/eggs/coffee/sugar/creamer/milk/cereal/cold-cuts. Almost more importantly, beer and rum and whatever mixers you want (lime and various juices). If you think you have enough beer/rum, just get more, it will come in handy! They have 5 gallon water dispensers but we also bought water bottles to carry around with us and freeze so we could have cold water at the beach and on walks.

We had a fabulous 9 day vacation there and really hope to be back in the future. It truly was paradise!

Camping on the beach

  • 2 of 5

Marianne and Fabiane are great, they're very accommodating. While the beach does have lots of sunshine and ocean, that's about all there is that's guaranteed.

The place isn't quite as it appears in photographs and could use some fixing up. If you're used to the resort life, this is a far cry from anything like that. There is no hot water, so showering wasn't pleasant. Cooking was interesting as we only had a propane camping element. The description said towels were included, however when we asked for two new ones, we were told "no, tomorrow", and had only two towels for the 8 days we were there.

There is a restaurant/bar on sight, however, it closes at 4pm. Thankfully we stocked up on food to get us through for breakfast and lunch, and thanks to another person staying there, they suggested where to go for a delicious meal for dinner. The woman that cleans and cooks in the restaurant does not speak any English so even if we did want something, we couldn't have communicated what, as they also didn't have a menu anywhere.

The beach was littered, however, the day after we left it was going to be cleaned up.

The two last days we were there the person renting the villa beside us was having a garage sale, therefore the locals were coming by to browse. This was never communicated to us to ensure we would be ok with this or whether we felt safe or not.

The bugs are pretty bad, so ensure you have lots of coils, candles and spray.

In the photos, it appeared boats (kayaks) were available to use, however they were nowhere to be found. Ensure you bring lots to keep you busy (books, playing cards, games, footballs, etc).

It's a very local experience, so if you're looking for an authentic taste then this is your spot.

Cute and rustic bungalow

  • 4 of 5

We loved the bungalow! It was right on the beach so you could hear the waves at night. The beach was beautiful and untouched. The bugs were a bit of an issue, so bring some bug spray or candles if you want to sit out at night. The drinking water was provided and a set of basic kitchen utensils were there as well. It was secluded and peaceful, but a bit difficult to find. Luckily Marianne was right there to help us find it. The seclusion and calm atmosphere made it worth it.
