About Bernie and Kicki Pineau

Welcome to our home! Since we live in Sweden 10 months a year we decided to offer our home a couple of months from spring to fall.

Bernie is originally from Millinocket and the property has been in his family since 1940. Bernie built the house and love every piece of it.

Kicki is from Stockholm, Sweden where we now live and work. We have three sons that love the Maine woods and their guest cottage.

Every summer we climb the mountain, go white water rafting, fish and swim and enjoy the outdoors, we hope you will do the same!

Great riding again!

  • 5 of 5

Another 3 days in Millinocket and the riding was great. The snow they got just before we arrived will keep the riding going for weeks. As always the house was great and fully stocked. Very comfortable to settle into after a full day of riding although we seem to be lights out by 9PM! Cant wait to get back.

Top notch

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time. We rode over 600 miles in three days. The house was perfect to settle into after a days riding. Everything you could ever need was in the house. Cooked all our meals in. Very comfortable place and appreciate you letting us use it. Had plenty of parking for snowmobile trailers. Trail access was just down the road about 1/3 mile. Very easy to sled to Saw Mill restaurant just a few miles down the road. We will be back!

What a fantastic house, complete with everything visitors could need!

  • 5 of 5

We rented the house while participating in the Millinocket Marathon. It was absolutely perfect. Conveniently located and fully stocked with linens, paper goods and cooking equipment. The owners were super nice and VERY responsive to all my questions. We had a great time and a great stay, I would also imagine it is a perfect property in the summer as it is right on the water. See you again next year!

A place to rest

  • 4 of 5

We has a great time. There was plenty of space and everyone had enough bedding to stay warm. We especially enjoyed the fire pit and the convenience of being so close to NEOC for rafting. The only problem was because we got in so late the first night, it was hard to see the house from the road. Perhaps you would consider posting a sign. Also we were not able to use the canoe cause it was locked up. But otherwise we would definitely come back again.

A "cool" two months in the heart of Maine's forests.

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I rented this home for two months in the summer of 2017. We spent the entire two months and were visited by my nephew and his family for ten days and my youngest daughter and her family and my other daughter for another ten days. Originally, we were not sure if everyone would come at once, making 10-11, so having 3 baths and a minimum of 3 bedrooms was a must. We were never more than six and it was very comfortable and spacious. We had several get-togethers so that my Maine family could meet their Arizona counterparts. The outside deck area provided an excellent place to get acquainted. We utilized the propane BBQ four times and it worked out fine as an extra bottle was provided. Although the lakeside fire pit was available, everyone was too busy to take advantage of it. The home is located on the stream end of the pond, so the pond is usually very calm. The available canoe was only used once. Baxter Park is just minutes down the road and my nephew’s family got to see a moose. They were also here for the free fishing weekend in June and fished for the first time in about 25 years, catching several pickerel and a catfish. Fishing licenses are available at the Katahdin General Store. Although the house takes a Millinocket address, it is just outside the town and about 5-10 minutes to several grocery stores and restaurants. Angelo’s Pizza, Appalachian Café and Scootic Inn all provided excellent meals. The house has a new washer and dryer, so keeping clothing clean was convenient. A new dishwasher had recently been installed before our arrival and was used often. The small guest cabin provided a little extra privacy for some of our guests, but the door facing the cottage was always left unlocked for their access and they felt part of the main house. Although the owners are often out of the country, they have a couple friends (that act as managers) that were available to assist with any questions we had. It seems as though we had only 4-5 days of the entire trip without rain, it was a pleasant change from 100+ degree Arizona temperatures. We did have one storm with a micro-burst that knocked down trees on the road to town and took the power out for 12 hours. The emergency generator kicked in and protected the refrigerator and contents and kept a second circuit on the other side of the house charged and available. The Pineau’s made us feel as if we were home. Highest recommendations.
