Currently own and operate Ginny's Cupboard restaurant and Maiden Wisconsin gift shop in historic downtown Sparta, Wisconsin. With their two sons now out of the nest it became time to finish the remodeling of this historic site. In the Driftless region of Wisconsin, Sparta drew the Moore's some 20 years ago and they have not regretted it since! They know you too will fall for the beauty and lifestyle of the region.
Kevin and Deborah Moore purchased this House in 2012
Why Kevin and Deborah Moore chose Sparta
Opportunity spoke to us when this property became available and we could not pass up the beauty and surprisingly private setting. Arguably the best site in the City and certainly one of the most convenient to all activities. The rush of the LaCrosse River over the rapids located on property is all you need to begin relaxing and enjoying your stay. Proximity to Fort McCoy, LaCrosse, Amish and cheese country, and the multiple bike/snowmobile trails assure activities for all. New 2014 water park and pool in town, indoor ice arena, Bridge Path boasting 5 unique pedestrian bridges through the interconnected local park system. Nationally recognized historic downtown district for shopping and dining within 4 blocks of the Mill House. Old time rootbeer stand two blocks away. In short-something for eveyone whether it be business or pleasure-and convenient for all!
What makes this House unique
Located just off the Interstate, Sparta boasts the original Rails to Trails program in the nation. The Sparta-Elroy bike trail welcomes 80,000 visitors to the area annually. Well developed and maintained park system in town also hosts Legion Baseball on the 5 fields in Memorial Park. In addition to the LaCrosse River, Beaver Creek and Farmer's Valley Creek also wind through the community. Public River Run Golf Course and new water park for family fun! Check the Chamber website and hit one of the great area festivals as well-Butterfest in June locally and Warrens Cranfest in September being two of the largest. Outstanding in any season, come see the fall colors too!
Nice private little house right in town.
House was very clean and nice. unfortunately it rained every day so we did not get to enjoy the stream out back which was overflowing. The netflix and Roku came in handy. We would definately recomend this house.
Great Great Great
House was perfect for our trip. We rode bikes from Elroy, and stayed overnight in Sparta. Just one night, but we had a great night. House was clean and comfortable, we walked to a restaurant for dinner and grabbed food at the local market to make a nice breakfast at the house before heading back on the bike trail. The kitchen was well equipped and beds were comfortable. We will be back.
Nicely remodeled 1850’s Home. Nostalgic! Reminded me of my grandparents old farmhouse. Nicely remodeled. Fire pit with background of river flowing. Beautiful property all together. We enjoyed our stay.
Please let us know what we could do to receive a 5 Star Review. All comments have been so positive and our guest book reflected the same. After nearly 80 reviews and a 4.949 rating we strive to be the best we can...thank you for your stay and let us know how we could better serve you on a return visit-thank you-Deb and Kevin
We needed a week away from stress and chaos. This Mill House on the rivers edge of perfection. Each morning we had coffee on the back porch. The town of Sparta and the surrounding area is great to explore. The evening we could grab something for dinner in town or cook at the house and eat on the porch again while we relaxed to enjoy the view and sound of the water.
Our time away was just what we needed. We were able to be as active or as relaxed and lazy as we choose to be n any moment.
We will return and have recommended it to others already.
The Perfect Spot
We enjoyed a relaxing couple days in this darling home. Beautifully done and decorated, it had everything we needed! Clean, comfortable beds, outstanding kitchen and bathroom. Mostly we enjoyed the quiet deck, the campfire, and view of the river! Thank you for sharing this home with us!
You are so welcome! Please come see us again! Loved having you-Deb
Cozy on the river
There were 5 of us in this lovely home for the weekend and we were very comfortable with space for our belongings and space to stretch out. The deck overlooking the river was our hangout for most of the weekend when we weren't on the bike trail. We selected this home due to the close proximity to the Sparta/Elroy bike trail and it worked out perfectly! We wish our stay could have been longer and definitely plan to stay again!
