Great stay in Sparta

  • 5 of 5

We spent a weekend with our college sons at "Millhouse". Nice location right on the LaCrosse river, just a five minute walk to downtown and the Worlds' Largest Bike!. The house was very clean and cozy. Fire pit with lots of wood was great. Close to Taste of Chicago Pizza, tasty! Although we didn't bring our bikes the trails are nearby. We spent the weekend at Wildcat State Park and visited area cheese shops.

We would definitely stay here again.

A beautiful property with all the amenities of home.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the Mills House during our recent five-day stay in Sparta and highly recommend it. It is a little piece of country in the city. The river, trees and large lot make for a very tranquil setting. The access to the bike trails and major roads was quite convenient. The craftsmanship of renovations on the historic home were remarkable.

The kitchen was stocked with all the cooking utensils anyone could need (right down to Pyrex pans, measuring spoon and even Saran Wrap). The bedrooms were quite comfortable and the living room was cozy.

The weather prevented us from taking advantage of the yard and fire pit, but thankfully the foosball table and board games kept the family entertained in the evenings (while I was able to get laundry done in the onsite washer and dryer).

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and look forward to future visits.

Fantastic One Of A Kind Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This Old Historic House should be featured on a T.V. show. The remodeling choices, all "high end", made this a perfect rental. New "everything"...... from the woodwork, floors, kitchen, appliances, fireplace - even the dishes in the cabinets, etc.

Views (and sounds of the rushing river water in the backyard) from both bedrooms, as well as the large deck, complete with table, chairs.

There was a huge stack of firewood in the back yard by the fire pit (right by the river) to be used by guests, as well as a charcoal grill.

Finished our 34 mile bike ride from Elroy to Sparta and rode two blacks to this rental. Perfect, quiet, secluded location.

Best rental experience of our 20 rentals!
