Overview

About the property

Secluded Cabin on 120 Acres and 1500 Feet of Lakeshore

The cabin is set in 120 private acres which will be yours to roam while you are visiting. With 1500 feet of native lake shore, you might not encounter another person the duration of your stay! We have spent the last year transforming one of the first cabins on the lake into our own personal hide-away. Just 30 feet from the lake, you will feel like your sleeping on the water! Newly landscaped to restore the area around the cabin to native shoreline habitat. Equipped with big-screen TV, cable, and high-speed internet. This property isn't for everyone, but if your idea of vacation includes the words glamping, secluded, get-away-from-it-all, quiet, and private, than it might be for you!

The cabin has a sleeping loft with two twin xl beds that can be pushed together for a king. Downstairs there is a nice sized sectional couch with an ottoman that converts into a cot. There is a small kitchenette downstairs that includes a microwave and a refrigerator. Bathroom facilities are primitive (i.e. there is an outhouse). After a long day on the trails or in the lake, relax in the wood-fired sauna. We have set up a unique deck with a hot tub and solar shower available in the summer months. Snowmobile in/out in the winter months.

Please note that the cabin itself is about a 1/4 mile drive from the main road. There is a steep incline to drive the last 500 ft down to the cabin. Those with rear-wheel drive should consider parking at the top of the hill and walking to the shoreline. The cabin is primitive, and you will need to bring your own drinking water. There is a charcoal and gas grill on site. Unless otherwise arranged, you will need to bring your own bedding and pack out your garbage. In doing this, I will waive all cleaning fees..

Why Sara chose Waubun

Jeremy and I grew up in Minnesota, but now live in North Dakota. When we began looking for a lake cabin, we knew we wanted that 'up north' feel. When we walked on this property, we were awe-struck. You will be amazed by the changes in elevation, the pristine shore-line, and the peace and quiet.

Beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Wow, this is a beautiful piece of property, so glad I decided to make the 4-hour drive from the Twin Cities, it was so worth it, and I can't wait to go back!

The cabin itself is small and primitive, but you don't rent this property for the cabin, you rent it for the outdoors! I only went inside to make breakfast and sleep at night and otherwise stayed outside the whole time (I did luck out with great weather). It is right on a clean, clear and quiet lake, it was a bit cold for swimming yet, but I did some wading in the beach area and it was nice. My two Border Collies barely dried off all weekend though, they loved having the water right there and being able to run around all day.

The land and the property were the highlight, there were lots of trails crisscrossing all over, and there are no other cabins nearby (the closest are about 1/2 mile on either side that you can only see if you hike over that way). The driveway is ¼-mile long to another remote dirt road with more hiking trails across that. I was able to spend 2 hours each day just hiking all the trails on the property. I certainly didn't see anyone else, other than boats on the lake from afar (it was fishing opener weekend).

I had relaxing bonfires every night (only feet away from the lake), with awesome stargazing, and spent most of my time alternating between hiking and sitting around watching nature. I didn't even end up reading anything, there was too much beauty to look at right in front of me. The hot tub was an unexpected surprise. I knew there was one there, but it was a really nice one, and super clean, I don't know how that is done with lake water, but it was amazing! And even the outhouse, it didn't smell like one, how is that possible?

I had a date screw up on my part and Sara was able to be flexible with me in rectifying that too which I sure appreciated, and she provided complete instructions for the property (good thing, the hot tub is a little tricky with the temp adjustment). Thank you so much for sharing this amazing property, and allowing our doggies to enjoy it too, we loved it!

Cute privet rustic spa

  • 5 of 5

We went over MEA. The crisp mornings made for great soaking weather. The sauna gets nice and hot! The lake is clean, we saw a beaver dan and a bald eagle fishing in the lake. We hope top come back again. Thank you for the hospitality.

Perfect getaway spot

  • 5 of 5

I truly enjoyed my time at the Tiltin Hilton! No one around, great fishing on the lake, everything exactly as described and what I wanted/needed out of a vacation spot. The owners can't control the weather, at least I forgot to ask, but if they could I'm sure they would have for me. Glad I had all-wheel drive to get out with all the rain that week, can't say it was easy for two different lost construction guys that stopped by while I was there trying to find another home. To get to this spot they were truly lost because it is so secluded! Cabin and items provided were exactly as described plus a few previous renter's leftover items like napkins, paper towels, etc. Wish I had two weeks and an ATV to check out the trails and more of the property! Maybe I shouldn't say anything else nice so I can be sure to have the place available for me to rent for my next trip up...which will happen! Thanks for sharing such a great place!

Peace and Quiet at Last!

  • 5 of 5

It was great. The cabin was great, the hot tub was great, even the outdoor shower was great. I got wonderful pictures of the sunset every night. I enjoyed coffee outside every morning. I couldn't have asked for a better vacation. Tolerate the bugs after 9pm at night, otherwise enjoy the hot tub during the day or early evening. Tons of Loons to look at and watch on the lake.  It was nice inside the cabin with the air conditioning, and the loft beds were super comfy!

Private Get-away

  • 5 of 5

Had a great time to check out and not be concerned with anything else. Descriptions of everything were quite accurate. Hot tub was a great amenity. First outhouse we've seen with electricity. It was "glamping" with only grills and microwave for cooking options; clean-up was like outdoor camping without running water. Expecting that, it was wonderful. Due to unforseen medical issue, we sacked out on the couches instead of attempting the loft. Lots of privacy. Saw deer and eagles, no dangerous animals. Hint for others: we brought a couple carpet scraps for throw-down rugs that caught some of the tracked-in dirt and added a bit more comfort. Also, plan ahead - it's a long way to town in any direction.
