Why Shannon Minielly chose The Beach

The Beaches area of Toronto is very appealing to us because it offers a 'small town vibe' within a major, world-class metropolitan area. We can walk to the beach, ride our bikes or inline skate along the beach bike path, play tennis, meet all our friends and neighbours (and their dogs!) along Queen Street...even enjoy an outdoor art installation at the beach in winter! Everyone is very friendly, active and community-oriented and it is 10-15 minutes to get downtown to enjoy live theatre, sporting events and culture. The perfect combination! I know you will love it too!

Wonderful house

  • 5 of 5

It was our first trip in Canada: two families, 9 people between 20 and 57. The house was really nice, even better with respect to the description. The area is not in downtown Toronto, but only 20 minutes by car or taxi and 45 by a very frequent bus, and it is a very pleasent place, with other beautiful houses and the beach at just some few hundred meters and a wild park at the end of the road. The lodging was really confortable, and all the details were at the level of the highest expection. All was really fine.

Amazing vacation in Toronto!

  • 5 of 5

Family reunion in Toronto. My husband and I had our 5 children , 2 had significant others and one grandbaby all stayed in this lovely home. Lots of room and bathrooms and kitchen is amazing with every pot or pan or spices you could want! They had the little extras so you did not have to run to store every minute it was wonderful! Location is amazing close to beach and shops. One huge hill to go up to reach the house which kept our thighs in great shape! We laughed each time we had to venture out the "mountain". It's really not that bad... The place was spotless clean with lots of towels. Even had a portacrib for us. Highly recommend!

Spacious neighborhood home in The Beaches district

  • 5 of 5

We had a small family reunion and stayed here for a week recently - the house is beautiful, up-to-date and located in a quiet neighborhood located between between Kingston Road and Queen Street E. We were looking for a place that could hold a large number (we had 11, including 4 pre-teen/teens). The kitchen has a large central island and has just about anything that one would need to prepare meals for a good-sized group. This was our family focal point. The website listing is quite representative of the house features, and all the expected amenities worked well (laundry, dishwashing, wifi, even a nintendo system in the basement playroom, etc). Also, the two upper floors' east-facing rooms each had nice walk-out balconies to enjoy a nice morning or rest after a day in town. There is a driveway (shared with the neighboring duplexed home) that will take two small cars or one SUV-type. For our second SUV there was plentiful parking even coming home later in the evening. To park on the street we purchased a pass in advance (easy to do on line) for $25 CDN.

We spent a lot of our time walking along Queen St E, just a couple of blocks downhill from the home. On the corner there is a good standard market (Valu-Mart) as well as a butcher, an organic food store, a couple of great coffee shops as well as interesting restaurants and stores, including a neighborhood movie theatre with an excellent selection of films. Just a further couple of blocks south was beach access via Balmy Beach Park, where there was a great boardwalk and cycling path down to Woodbine Beach/Ashbridges Bay Park and beyond. Along the path there were two kiosks to rent paddleboards and I believe kayaks. There is a great mass transit system - TTC - with lines running along both Kingston (503 bus) and Queens (501 bus during our visit) that took us straight into downtown Toronto. We used the Silver Birch Ave stop (501). The Valu-Mart on the corner there sells day passes and maybe tokens for the TTC.

The owners, Shannon and Andy, stopped by the first day or so to assure that we had settled into their home well, and they made sure we knew that help was available as needed. Shannon was prompt and responsive in all of our communications and in remitting our security deposit afterwards. We have used HomeAway (or VRBO before that) happily many times. She is among the best and we enjoyed working with her in making these arrangements. We would gladly come back to this area and to this home!

Spacious Beautiful House

  • 5 of 5

This is a perfect house!! It is very spacious and accomodating to a large group. We had 14 people, 8 adults, 6 children, and having the 4 full bathrooms and main floor 1/2 bath, was perfect for us!! The kids got to have a sleepover in the basement every night, and the adults each had their own rooms!! Very good communication with the owner! Absolutely nothing but positive things to say!! Walkable distance to stores, Timmy's/Starbucks, grocery, restaurants, the Beach! Although that hill is killer!! Haha. Loved every minute in this house!! 5 Stars!!

Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

The property was perfect for our small family reunion of eight adults and two children. Plenty of space to be together and to have privacy. (The kids loved the trampoline!) The neighborhood is very inviting, with great restaurants, a close grocery store and proximity to the beach. Shannon provided all the information needed.

We hope to return, and would certainly recommend.
