Extended family - 95th birthday
A large house, so very flexible space for different generations in beautiful surroundings. The hot tub is an added bonus that the younger ones spent all of Saturday night in!
The boiler potentially needs attention, with a tendency to need restarting, sending us down to the cellar several times - perhaps a need to include in the instructions? This was a minor downside to an otherwise wonderful stay and really enjoyable space for Grandad's 95th - Thank you!
Enormous and interesting house with plenty to do in the area
We were very pleased with the house which is obviously very old but without feeling old-fashioned. We had 11 adults, 11 children (6m to 7y) and a dog, and there was plenty of room.
There's plenty to do in terms of games, 2 lounges, the hot tub and the garden, and also lots to do in the local area (which we were worrying about before we came) - loads of brown tourist attraction signs!
Colin was very responsive ahead of time and with the query or two that we had during our stay.
Lovely house with everything you could ever need. Super fast response to problems from Colin.
Another lovely stay
We were 17 adults and 7 babies and toddlers staying at Cedar House for the second time - we were once again very happy with all aspects of the stay and can not fault Colin as a host. The property is spacious and clean, in a beautiful setting and the hot tub is a bonus. We’ll be back again next year I’m sure!
Very Good venue for family weekend
Lovely place, very spacious. Good facilities, plenty of towels and kitchen very well stocked up. One large fridge freezer and two additional fridges. Lovey hot tub in the garden, children play area with a Wendy house and slides. Cleanliness could have been a bit better but that’s very minor criticism. There were twenty of us and we all had a wonderful time.
Great period house in lovely location. Perfect for a large gathering with all mod cons. We enjoyed visiting Nene Park and making the most of the garden and all the house facilities. Great large BBQ and outdoor dining area. Highly recommended.
The property is situated in a delightful conservation village midway between Stamford town and Peterborough cathedral city which also has a direct 44 minute train service from and to London Kings cross which is rapid so access to the capital is very convenient.
Local attractions include Rutland water, Ferry meadows country park, Sacrewell Farm for children, Peterborough Lido provides one of the best 50 metre Olympic sized outdoor swimming pools in the UK and also has a great indoor pool adjacent which has a high diving pool too.
Stamford Georgian town has so much history to take in and shopping in the day and also an arts centre for music and a huge choice of restaurants and public houses for great nights out.
Peterborough has many national shops in its city centre and a huge John Lewis department store at its heart.
This property is situated next door to a great restaurant in the village (although undergoing refurbishment at present) but there are two other public houses within a 2 minute walk.
This property would equally suit a large family get together or just a large group of friends and please feel free to bring your cycles as we can make a locked store available to you if required and for dog walkers as there are lots of country walks to undertake here including Roman walks as we are situated where the second largest Roman building was ever built in the UK. There are clay pigeon and outdoor pursuits available closeby at Grange farm Wittering and for wet weather days Peteborough has a large multiplex cinema and two bowling alleys and two indoor childrens play areas. There are also many other theme pubs and also many restaurants around Peterborough city.
Cambridge City is only a short drive of 35 minutes away for another trip back in time with the famous colleges and unique shopping and there are also sports to watch such as Cambridge United football or Peterborough United and also roller skating and ice skating in Peterborough available too.
