Secluded, peaceful, beautiful!
My husband and I came to Oak Ledge for 3 nights with our dog Bruce. I could not have wanted more. Coffee on the deck with beautiful views, then walking my dog down the long dirt driveway before we set out for the day exploring Acadia and the surrounding towns. We came "home" every night and prepared dinner (one night a lobster and clam dinner, fresh off the boat!) and settled in, playing games and having cocktails. Not having a TV was great! We unplugged and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. One night the porcupine came out and entertained us by climbing the tree right next to the deck and chomping leaves. Luckily the deck didn't have stairs off it, perfect for dogs (or kids). So Bruce couldn't get to any of the animals! (He loved the chipmunks)
Oak Ledge provided the perfect home base for us, we will be talking about this trip for years to come!
Idylic spot. Solitude galore - wonderful views of the river basin.
Perfect. Not the place for you if you like close neighbors and lots of noise.
Well equipped and comfortable cottage.

Bagaduce water splendor
Wonderfully beautiful, private, quite peaceful place !
Want to get away from the B **** of urban/city life?
Then this is for you : ) We took in the stars, chilled by a fire, explored many coastal towns, did a kayak trip out of Castine and boat tour out of Milbridge. Named a property chipmunk "Chuck y" for his crazy behavior. Enjoyed the sounds of the animals/birds awaking in the morning. So blessed to have rented this home Thanks for having us !

Peaceful and Private - we loved it!
My wife and I stayed here for a week on vacation and we absolutely fell in love with this property. It is the most peaceful, private and beautiful property we have ever stayed at and we were so thankful that we found it. If you are looking for privacy and seclusion in nature, this is it! Steve and Lisa were terrific hosts and provided all the information you needed. The house / kitchen was well stocked with everything you needed. It really felt like a home away from home.
Aside from the views, our favorite thing was going down to the beach for the sunset and watching the abundant wildlife. We couldn't have asked for anything more from a property. If you stay, we recommend that you to go to Buck's restaurant (make a reservation) and make sure to order the mussels appetizer! Thank you Steve and Lisa!
Private and Peaceful
We kicked off our first Maine family vacation here really enjoyed our time at your house! While it is a remote location, it is close enough to all the essentials (in Blue Hill) and many local attractions. It had everything we needed to prepare a fresh Maine surf & turf, from the grille to the boil pot. Relaxing around the fire pit was great and the view from the deck can't be beat! Just one Acadia trip and all that traffic had us excited to get back to the house for the night.
Super quiet, beautiful view
Great location with wonderful westward view over cove of Bagaduce River. Lots of birds, chipmunks, squirrels provide the only sounds. Very private setting; well-equipped kitchen and very comfortable king-size bed. We would have appreciated being able to use the fireplace (owners say the draft is out of commission) on a couple of the cool and misty evenings of our late June stay. The gardens were pretty, and the binoculars came in handy. The absence of electronics (no TV or landline) was fine by us. Good hikes (the Holbrook Island Sanctuary, in particular) and some very acceptable restaurants (Bucks Restaurant in Bucks Harbor, and the Brooklin Inn in Brooklin, in particular) are within easy driving distance. (But watch out for the death-wish deer lining up on the roads after dark.)
PS The Strong Brewery tasting room on Rt.176 in Sedgewick offers an excellent craft-brewed IPA.
