Pat's Place is a secluded, waterfront home featuring some of Alaska's most extraordinary views.

The home comes with a car, conditions apply. The home is located about 10 miles from shopping, restaurants, and the airport, and about 20 miles from down town Juneau. The Master Bedroom has a King Platform bed, and a private bathroom, and private balcony over looking the cove and woods. Their are two additional bedrooms upstairs that share a common bath. The first bedroom has one queen bed and balcony with panoramic views that overlooks the ocean and distant mountains. The second bedroom has two single twin beds plus a sleeping loft with a full size air mattress. In addition their is also a full Kitchen, Dinning area, Living and Family room, plus a half bath with washer & dryer.

The home also comes with a gas BBQ, fire pit, two Kayaks, and 7 seat SUV. (2002 Ford Explorer), for stays of 6 or more nights. You will receive the car full of gas and it is expected to be returned full. A 25 cent per mile usage fee will be charged at the end your stay. In the winter with snow and ice on the ground it may be necessary to park on the street, and walk down the steps to the house (96 covered steps) If your elderly or in poor health, going up the steps could be a challenge. A new driveway has been added, that will take you all the down to the house, but it is fairly steep, and requires a 4 wheel drive vehicle which the Ford Explorer is. The upper driveway is also somewhat steep and should only be handled slowly and in reverse into it, since it's very tight to try and turn around at the bottom of that driveway. The upper driveway will save you about 30 steps to the top. You will be briefed further on the driveways after your arrival. After you park the car at the house, at the bottom of the hill, simply walk behind the house and enter through main entrance, at the side of the house. Do not enter the house through the door at the Master Bedroom.

About Pat Coyle

I was born at a very young age, the result of unprotected sex. I'm the only son with eight sisters and we grew up in a house with one bathroom, that's how I learned how to dance. Being an only son did have some advantages, I got my own bedroom, the living room. You might think sleeping on the couch as less than ideal, be it did prepare me well for married life. My parents are Irish, and right off the boat, making me 100% FBI, Full Blooded Irishman. We grew up in the Philadelphia area where they speak English with a Sylvester Stallone accent. When I was 14, I ran away from home, and without even committing a crime, my parents promptly joined the Witness Protection Program. I admit, I was no child Prodigy, but I did graduate in the top 85% of my High School class. Nobody thought I would do that good. I'm sometimes embarrassed to say I went to Penn State, with all the scandals, but I have to admit, college was seven of the best years of my life. I just wished I'd a finished. After college I joined the Navy, those were my Officer & Gentleman days. Although some might dispute the Gentleman part. My main career in life was as a pilot for the US Customs Service. It consisted mostly of chasing Drug Smugglers and Money Laundries around around the world. I used to always say, 'A good day on my job, is usually a bad day for someone else'. After 28 years of Federal Service I retired from Uncle Sam in 07, and promised my folks I would never run away again. I soon found myself in the Caribbean flying Seaplanes and Helicopters, and those were my Jimmy Buffett days. With a hot passion to live in Alaska and fly the bush I moved to Sitka in 09 and had a real cool job flying in SE Alaska. I moved to Juneau in 2011 and got the most primo job, flying Lear Jets for an Air Ambulance company. I do hope you enjoy my profile and realize it's not all true, and perhaps we will meet face to face in the future.

I recently purchased this property with the thought of making some big home improvements. I'd like to install an inclined elevator to go up and down the hill and a floating dock for a boat and possible a floatplane. Needless to say both of these items are extremely expensive and one way to help off set the cost is put the house on VRBO. So come on up and check it out. I'd love to meet you.

I'd have to say the two most unique features of this waterfront house are are the beautiful panoramic views and the total isolation. Whether it's fishing, hunting, hiking, mountain climbing, kayaking, or just plain relaxing this location has it all. Even when the weather is bad you will feel relaxed and on vacation in this home

Loved the cabin!

Had a wonderful time. This cabin is so nice and comfortable and the views are fabulous! There are eagles that constantly fly around the house, we saw several whales and sea otters. We had no luck fishing from the shoreline but got lots of fish when we went out on a boat. We grilled them up at the cabin that night and had a fresh delicious meal! If we ever return to Juneau we would want to stay at Pat’s cabin again.

A home away from home

The house is perfect for a vacation home. The house is spacious and the view was awesome. Sitting on the deck and grilling we saw whales 100 yards or less from the house. Seals and otters would visit occasionally.

We saw eagles and other birds on the rocks below. Cruise ships passing by in the day and night.

The house is close to the beach, Shrine of St. Therese and other scenic areas.

The house is approximately 19 miles from downtown Juneau where great restaurants such as Tracy's King Crab Shack, Twisted Fish Company Alaskan Grill, Hangar on the Wharf.

Parking downtown can be tricky but go to the library where parking is free on the weekend and spaces 1-25 on the weekdays are available for .75 an hour.

We went fishing with Captain Jim's Charters and caught a 45" halibut, pollock, rock fish and a lot of good times with Dave and Mike. They made us feel welcome and did their very best to find fish.

We also took the float plane to Taku Lodge-a must if going to Juneau.

Groceries and other items are available at the nearby Safeway store. Further toward town is Fred Meyer that is as large or larger then most Walmarts' and offers groceries, hardware, clothing and more.

Overall I rate this house and the Juneau experience a 10 out of 10.

Everything we hoped and more!

We loved our stay at Pat's house! The house was plenty of room for all of us women and was a perfect get away from our daily lives. Pat's house is a place i know all my employee's will hold dear to their hearts, because this is where we connected as a "family", instead of just co-workers. We have training in Juneau once a year and we hope to rent from Pat again. The house was beautiful, the scenery was beautiful and the location was perfect! We even liked the stairs!! lol

Truly lovely stay!

We booked a stay at Pat's Place for a family vacation that included my brother, his 2 children (18-20 y.o.) and S.O. and my husband and me. So, 6 full-sized people who don't always live together. The house was perfect - the master is on the first floor, allowing my husband and me a separate space and my brother's family took the second floor, with a separate bath. The view is so beautiful, there was a stream running through the property, the drive to Juneau is easy and the stay was fantastic. Pat could not have been nicer, meeting us at the airport to give us a quick tour through town and orientation at the house. The house is very comfortable and easily accommodated 6 of us. To know: there's no Wi-Fi or cable at the house, but we got decent cell service for checking email. On the flip side, you can use the excuse that you don't get Wi-Fi to not have to check work emails... For super-connected people in tech, we didn't miss cable or Wi-Fi and Pat has a nice selection of videos. Bring a couple of games, put down your screens and enjoy a breath. Pat also keeps the wood well stocked and the wood stove was awesome. Lots of nice touches and all the comforts of home. We highly recommend Pat's Place!

Our stay at Pat's Place was peaceful and idyllic. The waterfront views provided hours watching fish jump, eagles soar, a humpback whale cruise past, and a pod of porpoises playing in the cove. The house was immaculate when we arrived. The five in our party had plenty of room to spread out and not feel cramped. Pat is a gracious and attentive host and warmly welcomed us into his home. Being able to use Pat's Explorer was great - we had freedom to roam and it was a great bargain compared to a rental. We lucked out on the weather the week we were there - 70s and sunny! Highly recommend Pat's Place!! We would go back again.

Without a doubt the biggest tourist attraction in Juneau is the Mendenhall Glacier. An easy drive, it is centrally located between the house and downtown, Most tours are self guided and can last anywhere from two hours to two days. Their is a Park Service facility there and can answer most questions you have about the Glacier and the surrounding area. Not seeing the Glacier while in Juneau is like not seeing the Eiffel Tower when in Paris.

Juneau and all of SE Alaska is know for it's world class fishing. Some of the best salmon and halibut fishing is just a few feet off our shores. Charter fishing boats are just a few miles away in Auke Bay, (6 miles) and also downtown. You can cook your catch on your outdoor grill and if your very successful, ship home the rest. Of course an Alaska fishing license is required.

Whale watching is also very popular, but no need to charter a boat since the whales are constantly breaching within view of the back deck.

Another popular attraction are helicopter tours of the Glacier, where they fly you up to the top of a Glacier and you land and walk around. Their are 4 local helicopter operators and one is bound to meet any specialized needs. Bring your camera on this trip, cause it's sure to be breathtaking.

If you make a day trip to the city plan on a trip up the Mt Roberts Tram. Not only will the view at the top be breathtaking but their are occasional shows and a fabulous restaurant to eat in while enjoying the panoramic views.

Another popular downtown tour is the old mine. Juneau got it's start as a gold mining town and it's what put Juneau on the map. Highly recommend at least a day trip to the city for shopping, restaurants, and tours
