Two bed chalet located in the Bay area of the island near a number of beaches
Home from Home Holidays
Kath and family from Birmingham
It would have been helpful to have had space in the cupboards for our own groceries instead of them filled with other peoples stuff.
Fridge and microwave need replacing.
The chalet is ideal for families with young children as they can play safely outside.

An honest opinion
When myself and my family arrived at the chalet park from our first impressions were the park was a little rough around the edges but once we got into our chalet it was like night and day, the chalet was a good size, very well decorated, laid out and nice and bright, the location is very good only a short walk to the beach and town, and in the other direction is Bembridge, we thought if the chalet park had an entertainment or restaurant you wouldn't need to leave. Other than that we would definitely recommend and return for the location and value for money.
Thank you so much for taking the time to put together such a lovely review. We're always thrilled to receive positive feedback and I will ensure your comments are passed onto the owner. We look forward to welcoming you back to Downs View and the Isle of Wight soon!
Two weeks holiday
Everything concerning our chalet was 99% fine. Only problem we encountered was after we arrived at the chalet having bought some provisions at Tesco first, including several bags of frozen food, we found out the fridge was just that... a larder fridge with no ice compartment! We had to bin our frozen goods. We have stayed in various chalets on this site over the years and each chalet up to this point had a fridge with a small ice compartment at the top.
We therefore presumed Downs View would be the same. However, this was our only bugbear.... everything else was fine.
Thank you for taking the time to post this review, your feedback is appreciated and very important to ourselves and the owners so we can endeavour to improve the accommodation on offer and the visitor experience. We would recommend Guests review the property details for the description of amenities etc so they can best prepare their holiday . If you have any queries we are always here to help. Best wishes HfH Holidays.
Sandown Bay, with Shanklin to the south and Yaverland and Culver Cliff to the north, offers stunning sandy beaches, which are gently sloping and ideal for safe bathing. One of the few towns on the island which has retained its pier, Sandown provides amusements, fairground rides and facilities for anglers. It is a family resort with a variety of pubs, restaurants and cafes as well as Browns pitch and putt, the Zoo with a tiger sanctuary and even the ‘Dinosaur Isle' museum.
Yaverland is easily accessible by car or on foot. There's ample parking, a kiosk and toilet facilities as well as the yacht club. The area is great for families and adjoins the towering chalk cliffs of Culver.
The Isle of Wight is famous for its superb beaches, dramatic coastlines and outstanding natural beauty, making it a holiday haven with something for everyone. From secluded coves and wide expanses of sandy beaches to coastal paths and woodland, it's not just the stunning landscapes that attract visitors to the island, but also the variety of things to see and do. Rich in a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities, it's no wonder visitors return year after year. Self-catering is the most popular option because it is both cost effective and offers the flexibility and freedom to come and go as you please.
