Fabulous place to stay!
We were two couples, all seniors. We spent a total of 7 weeks in the Canary Islands. The apartment was on the sixth floor, serviced by an elevator that was not busy. The building and apartment were very secure, you needed pass codes to enter. The apartment was exceptionally clean and spacious. It had two well supplied and comfortable bedrooms and a complete kitchen, well stocked with all the cooking and eating utensils desired. There was even numerous spices and condiments. There was a cloths washer, TV, (Spanish) and excellent high speed internet. The best part, (remembering Latin America) was the water never stopped and was always hot. Same for the electricity. There was a modern split system type air conditioning, but we never used it.
The location is downtown, in the core of Sta. Cruz, Tenerife, which was a great location. Sta. Cruz is a small City that has everything needed, an excellent bus and rail system, and a large bus terminal with several buses to every part of the island hourly. The bus terminal and ferry terminal are close, 5 to 8 Euros by taxi.
Fabulous place to be!
It gets better, this is a vibrant “people friendly” City. On the street, have a question, ask the first pedestrian, always friendly, most understand and talk enough English to help you out. A very civilized environment, no graffiti, no drugs, no street people, no drunkeness, no violence, NO guns, no corruption and friendly police. No visible tourists, just a lot of ordinary civilized people. For 25 years we lived and worked in numerous parts of all the Americas, (North, Central and South), This City was a totally new experience, like a new breath of fresh air on a Spring morning.
The core of the City, maybe 2 kilometers, (1.5 miles) diameter is perfect for walking. Generous sidewalks and numerous sidewalk restaurants, minimum one or two for every block of walking. Not a lot of vehicular traffic, partly because many streets did not permit regular traffic. Lots of people walking and going about their daily affairs. Fantastic parks within 300 mts, (350yds), hundreds of shops, NO Walmart or big box stores but an excellent department store, Cortes de Engles and a shopping mall. Modern grocery stores close by, (100mts), an open market, open every day, a huge flea market open once each week.
Fabulous people to stay with!
Jose, the owner was very responsive to all of our requests. Pepe, (Jose's Dad) and Eva were always close by and were invaluable. We got
