About this property

Beautiful Grade 2 Stone Built Cottage on farm in central position

This is beautifully converted two bedroom stable dating from the 16th century and nestled away in the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Northumberland is one of the UK's best kept secrets when it comes to holiday destinations.

It is only a 25 minute drive to the coast where you will find some of the finest beaches in the country and not far from the Northumberland National Park where there is ample opportunity for walking and cycling. We have more castles than any other county in England and the cottage is a good base to explore these from being in a central location.

The property is situated on a working farm which has been farmed by 5 generations of the same family. It has a bathroom and shower room upstairs to complement the two bedrooms with a further WC on the ground floor. Dishwasher, Freezer, Fridge and Microwave and Cooker and all the utilities you would expect in the kitchen and a very comfortable sitting room.

Wifi is available, cot for child and high chair

Outside there is a south facing patio

The quaint market town of Morpeth is only 5 miles away where there is a good selection of shops and amenities. The historic town of Alnwick is 18 miles and Newcastle is 21 miles with the Roman Wall 25 miles

Relaxing retreat
The cottage has been renovated to an excellent standard, making good use of all of the space, including both of the en suite bathrooms. Chester was helpful and knowledgeable about the area. The location is rural yet close enough to the coast for day trips even as far north as Bamburgh. The weather wasn’t kind to us but I believe that there are lots of great walks from the cottage and Morpeth has plenty of cafés and shops for the non-hikers. This is a great cottage, excellently priced, in a lovely part of the world.

Northumberland short stay
Lovely and quiet. A few miles outside Morpeth along some small bumpy roads to The Stable. Great views from walks near the accommodation. Plenty of room downstairs, just watch your head on the beam/ceiling in the shower room upstairs. Milk, bread and eggs provided by the owner plus all the bits and bobs you would need so you dont need to rush to the shop before arriving.

Great cottage in peaceful rural setting with good free Wi-Fi and helpful, informative host.
We stayed for two weeks in late October during our visit to the UK from Canada. The cottage had everything we wanted and more (including some really great eggs from the farm). It is a little further from Morpeth than would have been ideal for us (about 15 minutes drive north west) as we were visiting family about 20 minutes south of Morpeth. That said, we would certainly be very happy to stay here again in the future. The local scenery is beautiful and an added bonus for us was our host's detailed knowledge of local military history.

Why they chose this property

We have been farming in Northumberland going back to the 11th century and beyond and have farmed here at current farm for nearly 140 years. Northumberland has a bit of everything and there is so much to see and do.

What makes this property unique

A grade 2 listed stable which has been recently converted into a very comfortable cottage with all the amenities you would expect for a great self catering holiday.
