Fritz and Lindsey
About Fritz and Lindsey
We found this 56 acres in 2009 after an exhausting search to buy a sizable piece of land in the area we grew up in. In February 2015 we finally completed our self- built dream home. Our summer time work of living in the wilderness of the high sierra allows us to share this special place with travellers
Fritz and Lindsey purchased this Chateau / Country House in 2015
Why Fritz and Lindsey chose Mariposa
This was the only property we could find that met our criteria of being very private, having year around flowing water and bordering National Forest public land while being close to the town of Mariposa AND the Merced River and Yosemite. It has turned out to be a perfect blend of privacy while having the convenience of heading to yosemite or the river for the day while still being a short drive to town for shopping or a night out at resturaunts, saloons or concerts
What makes this Chateau / Country House unique
Our backyard borders Sierra National Forest, one of the biggest in the state at over 200 square miles, this in turn borders Yosemite National Park and all the wilderness and National forests and Parks of the entire Sierra Nevada mountains. The possibilities and freedom are endless!

We just finished our stay and it was wonderful! The property is tucked away down a gravel road. It's an adventure just driving there! It's a great place! The owners are very friendly and helpful! There are some great places to eat in the cute little town. It was the perfect place to stay while we explored Yosemite. Our only regret was that we didn't get to stay there longer!
Amazing house in the wood
The house was way better than what we expected! The location is great, deep in the forest. The kitchen has all the stuff you need. Strongly recommended and we want to come back in the future!
Family trip to yosemite
Beautiful setting and launching point for our 10 day trip to Yosemite. Very clean and plenty of room for my husband and our three teen/young adult boys. Not far from Mariposa, where we were able to find a few restaurants and a fairly large grocery store. Would definitely stay again.
We enjoyed our stay here. Fritz was helpful with information of surrounding areas. It’s about an hour to get to Yosemite but worth it. For the price and the experience of being out in the woods and having it all to ourselves we really enjoyed it.
We rented this cabin over spring break with our children and everyone loved it! The dirt road getting there had us anxious, but once we found it, it was picture perfect. It felt like a home away from home since we had everything we need. From coffee maker to shampoo+conditioner. The creek/river right outside was beautiful and the sound from the balcony was so calming. The showers were great, heated floors were a luxury and the downstairs pool/dart room was a bonus! Easy drive to Yosemite and close to the little cute town. We will definitely be back!
Lovely home in beautiful setting
I was worried about the road based on other reviews but it really was not an issue. Taking it really slow it took about 10 to 15 minutes from the paved road in a Subaru awd but AWD not required. House is great and kitchen had the basic condiments and spices. We had a great time.
