Overview

About the property

Lakefront with boats, by gas station, Subway, grocery store, etc.

Come and enjoy your very own lakefront paradise in Talkeetna! Situated on 15 acres, you will feel like you are out in the middle of nowhere as you gaze out at the calm lake, yet just down the street you will find everything you need to stock your kitchen from a full line grocery store.

The house consists of a large deck overlooking Little Montana Lake, a private green lawn, a paddle boat, rowboat and 2 canoes with enough life jackets for 6 adults (boating experience needed for the canoe), fishing poles, and beautiful walking trails along the lake right next door at the local high school.

The house has 3 bedrooms- one king bedroom upstairs, one queen bedroom upstairs, and one queen bedroom downstairs. A trundle bed is set up in the living room, which consists of 2 twin mattresses total, but can be converted to a king bed with a mattress topper. 8 are comfortably accommodated with this arrangement. 2 baths include a full tub/shower combo downstairs and a spacious double sink vanity with walk in shower upstairs. The house is also equipped with WiFi, a land line telephone for local phone calls, and a 65” flat screen TV with a selection of DVDs to choose from, or rent a new release at the grocery store across the way.

Owners Derek and Jessica are ready to assist in making your stay a wonderful one, as they reside in a smaller house on the property behind the main cabin.

The Talkeetna Lake House is the perfect place to vacation in Alaska, with nearby award winning restaurants, world class fishing, flights to Denali- the highest mountain peak in North America, marine tours along the Talkeetna river, local shops to browse through, beautiful trail systems-including a 14 mile paved path that you can connect to right from the house, and conveniently located on the way to Denali National Park ( 2 hours driving time into the park entrance), the opportunities to enjoy this area are too numerous to mention. Make sure to look up " The Talkeetna Lake House" on Facebook for more photos and information. About Jessica Pearson

Derek and Jessica Pearson were both born and raised in Alaska. They have been coming to Talkeetna together for over 10 years, and were lucky enough to move there in 2010. They have always loved summer and winter events in Talkeetna, to include camping, restaurants, festivals, fishing, snowmachining, skiing, sledding and softball. Now they get to enjoy all the same things and more, with their busy little boy and girl. They know you will find a few special things about Talkeetna as well!

Jessica Pearson purchased this house in 2012

Why Jessica Pearson chose Alaska

This property was special to Derek and Jessica because of its lakefront location first and foremost. Jessica knew that having a lakefront home would be something she could enjoy and share with her family as she did growing up in a lakefront home an hour south of this location. Derek also grew up in a private setting among open forests with abundant wildlife an hour south of the house, so he knew the private setting was something he would enjoy as well.

What makes this house unique

The best thing about this home is the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere, yet at the end of the driveway are all of the modern conveniences needed to live comfortably....without all of the traffic!

Listen up, because I never give reviews. I felt I needed to on this home though. Alaska was probably one of the most adventurous trips I’ve ever taken with my family. We had the most adventurous time we've ever had and we had the perfect home for our trip. This Alaskan home is so special in many ways and I’m going to tell you why. First of all, it is nice and comfortable. You will be living in a beautiful cabin home with huge windows that overlook the private lake. The lake view is so beautiful. The home is a rustic log cabin with a lot of wood, but also so luxurious inside. The internet was great. Furnishing inside the home were perfect. The beds were so amazingly comfortable, it was hard to get out of bed. I can’t tell you how much we enjoyed this home. My two young boys loved the paddle boat they got to use on the lake. Mom and I would take the canoe along with them. We spent hours on the lake paddling around it and watching the Loons and other wildlife. I bonded so much with my two boys of 8 and 10 years of age during these hours on the lake. The memories are priceless.

I can’t tell you enough about this wonderful home and how much we enjoyed it. It is perfectly located, close to Talkeetna, close to Denali National Park, close to several fishing tours and close to the big grocery store. The best part it that it is also secluded. You feel like your out of town in the woods with your own private lake.

The family who owns this home is so very special. They helped us with all our questions about the area and much more. We fell in love with this family and even went to dinner with them one night. I won’t tell you about the sweet little extra special things we arrived to find. You will have to experience this on your own. But what a very special family…. we love them!

Now that you know how highly we think about this home along with the entire experience, I hope you will choose this home amongs all the other options. You will be happy you did. Then you will agree with me, what a great family and what an awesome home.

Thanks for reading this. I hope you get to experience Talkeetna Lake House at least once in your lifetime. I know that we are going back as soon as we can.

A Talkeetna Highlight

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in Talkeetna, largely due to the comfortable and welcoming Lake House. Jessica and Derek were very helpful. Definitely a "winner pick" for us. Hiking in Denali State Park and Hatcher Pass were very convenient.

Fabulous Lake House

  • 5 of 5

We were a party (literally) of 6 adults, 3 cousins and their spouses. We arrived at the Lake House at midnight. Since it was still light out :) , it was easy to unpack and get moved in. We were most appreciative of Jessica's excellent directions. GPS took us directly to the property. Had a little trouble with the lock box, which we reported by text to the owner. She immediately fixed it for the next group of visitors. We were so excited, it was difficult to go to bed. We felt as though we were in our own home. We celebrated with cookies and wine! The Lake House was charming, comfortable, and everything the VRBO pictures portrayed. All of us highly recommend the Talkeetna Lake House. Our only regret is that we didn't get to stay longer because we had a cruise to catch.

This was our first experience with VRBO. I hope other VRBO experiences will be as good.

Fabulous Family Vacation Home!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had such a wonderful time enjoying the Talkeetna Lake House. We could tell from the moment we walked in that we were in for a treat, and we all agreed it is the best vacation rental we have stayed at to date. Everything is spotless and smells of fresh laundry, the view from the deck is priceless, and every detail has carefully been considered by the thoughtful owners. We felt so at home for the six nights we enjoyed the home, and our two children were just as impressed! We would highly recommend this gem of a lake house, and we hope that if our travels take us to Alaska in the future that we would have the pleasure of enjoying this home again. Thank you, Jessica and Derek!

Perfect Vacation Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 8 thoroughly enjoyed our three-night stay at the Lake House. We were all so impressed with the property and the attention to detail and care that Derek and Jessica have taken to make this a wonderful home for vacationers.

Prior to arrival, Jessica was proactive in communicating with us regarding our visit. She even searched for, and found, a can of bear spray when I emailed to ask her if there would be any available at the house. She also checked to see if we needed the trundle bed, and since we did, she made it and had it waiting for us. Everything was neat and clean when we arrived, and we were pleasantly surprised to find packages of chocolates, a personalized greeting card, and even a gift card to the local grocery store that was within walking distance of the cabin. We could already see what great pride Derek and Jessica take in their property and making their guests feel welcome.

The view from the Lake House is beautiful, and we enjoyed sitting out on the deck. We appreciated all of the things that were available for us to use--barbecue grill, bikes, boats, fishing equipment, fire pit/wood, Keurig coffee pods/tea bags, a wide selection of movies, portable fans, washer/dryer, and one of our group's favorite features: blackout curtains! We were able to get a good night of sleep every night (even though it was light outside) thanks to the blackout curtains and comfortable beds.

The Lake House has so much charm and character, and we could tell that Derek and Jessica work hard to make it a perfect place to stay. We were sad to leave, and we would definitely return to the Lake House or wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone else who visits Talkeetna, AK or the surrounding area!

Alaska vacation

  • 5 of 5

We (seven adults) enjoyed our three day stay at the Lake Home outside of Talkeetna. The views from the deck were wonderful, and we used the paddle boat to explore the lake and get some pictures of Denali. The house had everything we needed, with a couple of stores within walking distance. Jessica was great, and was very responsive to our questions. We would say here again!
