About the property

Spacious Family Home In Town With Spectacular Lake And Mountain Views

Come stay at this beautiful home for a perfect summer or winter getaway. This 4 bedroom house sits on a hillside with panoramic views of Shadow Mountain Lake to the south and Mt. Baldy to the east. The family-friendly vacation village of Grand Lake is a short walk away and offers restaurants, cafes, galleries, western themed shops, ice cream parlors, a small grocery store, and live theater. Riding stables, a go-cart track, and a bowling alley are also a short walk away.

In the summer enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, and golfing. The house is within minutes of the western entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can hike right into the park from the town of Grand Lake or drive Trail Ridge Road, which crests at over 12,000 feet and has many overlooks of this unique alpine and subalpine world. Hike into the backcountry, summit a peak, or go on a Ranger led activity; you are close to everything this 100 year old National Park has to offer.

Wildlife activity in the area is common in both summer and winter. It is common to see elk and moose year around. Pica, marmots, deer, and bighorn sheep are frequently seen in the national park.

In winter you can hit the trails on snowshoes or cross country skis. There is a great Nordic ski center nearby which also has a free tubing hill and the town maintains a small skating rink in winter that is free to the public. The low key ski area Granby Ranch is 25 minutes away, and the large ski resort of Winter Park is just 45 minutes away for those who need more extreme terrain.

The home features an open floor plan with a well supplied kitchen opening onto the living and dining rooms, with high ceilings, fireplace, and large windows looking out onto the lake and mountains. The Great Room opens out to a large deck where you can relax and enjoy the views and mountain air. The dining room table has room to seat ten with room for three more along the kitchen bar. The open loft above the Great Room offers additional living space with TV, sleeper sofa, and table for board games and puzzles with 5 chairs.

The private master suite, just off the loft, has a king-size bed and a full bathroom with large jetted tub and separate shower. On the main level are two additional bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds, and a full bath. On the lower level is the kid's teen's hideaway - a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom, and a twin size bed with trundle. The lower level also includes a 3/4 bathroom and washing machine and dryer.

WiFi and cable TV are provided and there is a DVD player and CD player in the living room.

Great place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had three families and this home was perfect for all of us! All the adults had their own rooms and the kids enjoyed the basement room which accommodated all 5 of them! Can't say enough about how wonderful this home is! Super clean, great location, and amazing view of Shadow Mountain reservoir! Thank you for sharing your home with us and we hope to be back!

Perfect Location. Beautiful View.

  • 5 of 5

Our group of 7 stayed in this home for Thanksgiving. It is in the perfect location to enjoy Grand Lake and the surrounding area. We could walk to the grocery store and to town-the area is quaint and all of the people are so friendly. The great place about this location is that our group was able to splinter off during the day despite only having one car for part of our stay....two of us could walk to town while others went for a hike and one stayed back at the house for a nap--it was nice to not have to make a huge "plan" for the day because of limited transportation as we have done with other mountain vacations.

The owners were very accommodating when two in our party wanted to come a day early-very friendly and easy to work with. We were able to cook a large Thanksgiving dinner in the well-stocked kitchen for 7, and the dining room table seats 8 very comfortably--and you could easily squeeze in 10. So it made it feel very much like a home for the holiday.

The master suite is gorgeous. The 3 full bathrooms are another plus--didn't have to fight over hot water, bathroom time, etc. The house is well cared for.

One note: There is no ground-level access to the house. Both sides of the garage are off limits to renters, so to enter the house you have to walk up several outdoor stairs--something to note in the winter months. We had our 86 year old mother with us, so that was a bit tricky at times. This also means that you will have to park outside during your stay.

Highly recommend the house for large or multiple family gatherings with a great view of a breathtaking location with easy access to the area!!

Very nice.

  • 4 of 5

Great place for a family get-together. We had a great time with children and grandchildren. Nice comfortable house with everything needed (except dishcloth and dishtowels). Close to what we were interested despite rainy weather while we were there, but even that was enjoyable as we don't get a lot of rain at home.

125 Miles
Denver International Airport
Car: recommended

The house is a short walk into the town of Grand Lake and has easy access to the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can hike or snowshoe into the national park right from town. Very near to town is a golf course and Nordic Ski center, and the town sits on the shores of Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain lake with all the fishing, boating, and canoeing activities those lakes offer. Downhill skiing is a short 25 minute drive away at Ski Granby and slightly longer 45 minute drive to Winter Park Resort.
