About the property

Spacious Family Home In Town With Spectacular Lake And Mountain Views

Come stay at this beautiful home for a perfect summer or winter getaway. This 4 bedroom house sits on a hillside with panoramic views of Shadow Mountain Lake to the south and Mt. Baldy to the east. The family-friendly vacation village of Grand Lake is a short walk away and offers restaurants, cafes, galleries, western themed shops, ice cream parlors, a small grocery store, and live theater. Riding stables, a go-cart track, and a bowling alley are also a short walk away.

In the summer enjoy fishing, hiking, boating, and golfing. The house is within minutes of the western entrance of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can hike right into the park from the town of Grand Lake or drive Trail Ridge Road, which crests at over 12,000 feet and has many overlooks of this unique alpine and subalpine world. Hike into the backcountry, summit a peak, or go on a Ranger led activity; you are close to everything this 100 year old National Park has to offer.

Wildlife activity in the area is common in both summer and winter. It is common to see elk and moose year around. Pica, marmots, deer, and bighorn sheep are frequently seen in the national park.

In winter you can hit the trails on snowshoes or cross country skis. There is a great Nordic ski center nearby which also has a free tubing hill and the town maintains a small skating rink in winter that is free to the public. The low key ski area Granby Ranch is 25 minutes away, and the large ski resort of Winter Park is just 45 minutes away for those who need more extreme terrain.

The home features an open floor plan with a well supplied kitchen opening onto the living and dining rooms, with high ceilings, fireplace, and large windows looking out onto the lake and mountains. The Great Room opens out to a large deck where you can relax and enjoy the views and mountain air. The dining room table has room to seat ten with room for three more along the kitchen bar. The open loft above the Great Room offers additional living space with TV, sleeper sofa, and table for board games and puzzles with 5 chairs.

The private master suite, just off the loft, has a king-size bed and a full bathroom with large jetted tub and separate shower. On the main level are two additional bedrooms, one with a queen size bed and the other with two twin beds, and a full bath. On the lower level is the kid's teen's hideaway - a bunk bed with a double bed on the bottom, and a twin size bed with trundle. The lower level also includes a 3/4 bathroom and washing machine and dryer.

WiFi and cable TV are provided and there is a DVD player and CD player in the living room.

Great place for family gathering

  • 4 of 5

The place was just what we needed for our family vacation. A little warmer than we expected, but we were able to leave the doors and windows open to get a pretty good airflow, and enjoyed all the fresh air. It was everything we needed. Thanks

Delightful Home with Spectacular Views

  • 4 of 5

This home was great for our winter weekend family get-together. It was a cold weekend with lots of snow on the ground, and we found the house cozy and inviting. The open living/dining/kitchen area easily accommodated all 7 (adults) of us, whether we were playing games or working puzzles on that great big table, cooking, eating or simply enjoying conversation and the views of the sunset over Shadow Mountain Lake. The upstairs loft with a game area, sofa and bookshelf is a bonus! Hiking or snowshoeing in the national park is a short 5-minute drive up the road and downtown Grand Lake is easily walk-able, even in the snow!

The house has a comfortable, lived-in feel that put us at home right away. It's very clean and has everything you need for a home away from home. We found the bedrooms quiet and private, and the beds comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with a large variety of pots and pans and the basic pantry staples. The furnace worked well and the gas fireplace was awesome! However, the basement was COLD! The space heater took the edge off, but we didn't leave it on while we slept, and the bedroom got uncomfortably cold. (Keep in mind that the high on one of the 2 days we were there got up to 11 degrees Fahrenheit.)

The deck was covered with 2-3 feet of snow. It was not shoveled but we can see how it would be yet another great space during 3 seasons.

Would we do it again? Absolutely! The house has great views, wonderful, relaxing spaces, is close to the National Park and other attractions, and the price is reasonable for our large group.

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We very much enjoyed this property. It was well-kept, comfortable, and we had everything we needed. I worried about the kitchen having everything and was very pleased to find it had more than everything I needed. Would definitely return.

Beautiful place, great views, and quick walk into town

  • 5 of 5

The home was perfect for our weekend away from the city. It had wonderful views of the lake and mountains from the living room and deck, the living space was comfortable and open, and the fireplace made for a cozy stay at night.

Beautiful views and so comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

My husband, two and three year old son and daughter, mother and father in-law and two dogs had a wonderful long weekend stay at this beautiful Grand Lake property in October. We were in town for a friend's wedding and the location was perfect for walking into town, quick access to hiking and close to the ranch where the wedding took place. The views from the main space and the deck are incredible and it was warm and sunny enough to spend a lot of time outside relaxing. I highly recommend this fantastic house and hope to come back in the future!

The house is a short walk into the town of Grand Lake and has easy access to the west side of Rocky Mountain National Park. You can hike or snowshoe into the national park right from town. Very near to town is a golf course and Nordic Ski center, and the town sits on the shores of Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain lake with all the fishing, boating, and canoeing activities those lakes offer. Downhill skiing is a short 25 minute drive away at Ski Granby and slightly longer 45 minute drive to Winter Park Resort.
