a wonderful place

  • 5 of 5

We chose this wonderful cottage on a lake from the internet.

We could not have chosen better. It was perfect. The lake, which changes its appearance from hour to hour, was the main attraction. We swam in it, we boated on it (though the attempts at paddleboating gave the neighbours some interesting entertainment !

We had 4 relaxing days, combining touring and relaxing.

Totally rrecommended

Owner's Response: Thank you for that wonderful review....and don't worry, you are not the first person to paddle in a circle (including me!) I prefer to relax in the canoe while my husband rows! So happy you and your husband had a great time!

Great house on a great lake!

  • 5 of 5

We truly had a wonderful time staying for a week at this house on Lake Chaffee. The house was spotless, cozy, and had all the things that you would need to feel at home and comfortable. We had fun going to Putnam, Sturbridge Village, Woodstock for a tour of the Roseland Pink House and to UConn. I am an alumni and it was fun grabbing a coffee and sitting in the square reminiscing. The lake is clean and clear and we helped ourselves to the kayaks which were easy to get in and out of the water. We also took our bikes up and rode around the lake every day. Where we live is only an hour away in CT, but it felt like we were far far away which added to the relaxation and fun. We highly recommend a stay here!

There are few places left in the world to experience a lakefront cottage location so consistently beautiful, from year to year, for as long as I have been familiar with Lake Chaffee - dating back to 1995. This cottage is in keeping with the serenity and natural beauty of its surroundings, and the owners have done a superb job of providing every comfort, yet still allowing for casual and cordial gatherings. A lovely place to recharge the spirit and revisit peaceful, reflective moments.

Owner's Response: What a lovely tribute to what we also refer to as "our little piece of Heaven". It is so nice to know that our guests love it as much as we do. We try hard to make sure that everything we find enjoyable and relaxing is available for our guests as well and have been rewarded with many return vacationers!

Great Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for three years and loved it. The cottage is adorable and has everything you could want. Denise is very helpful and even supplied a blow-up mattress for my grand-daughters. The lake is clean and has a gradual incline which makes it perfect for children. Although the road is a main thoroughfare it isn't heavily used and the package store across the street is hidden behind a stand of evergreens. The house was supplied with brochures and information on restaurants, attractions, and grocery and drug stores in the area. How anyone could be dissatisfied with this lovely home amazes me.

Honeymoon get away

  • 5 of 5

I too had the pleasure staying at this beautiful cottage. My husband and I were celebrating our belated honeymoon and we couldn’t have picked a more perfect place to stay.

It was like paradise. I woke up most mornings around 6:30 and spent an hour or so, on the patio reading my bible, having my one on one time with the Lord. There were a few mornings my husband and I got up at 4:30 to go fishing. To see a sunrise on the lake is breathtaking. I felt as if I walked into one of Gods paintings, one of His masterpieces. How many people get to do that with the one they love? I thought there was nothing more beautiful than a sunrise on the lake but I was wrong. The sunsets, the bright colors and reflections on the water were truly AMAZING

The fishing and swimming was a lot of fun. I not only got to swim in the lake but I swam across the lake to the other side, then along the back side and then back to our dock. About a mile and a half in 58 min. Loving every minute in or on the water

The cottage may be on the main road and you may have traffic but I have to be honest with you.

You have two choices; you can harp on the traffic and let it ruin your vacation. OR you can get lost in the beauty of the cottage, the lake and the people on the lake. I guess that depends on what kind of person you are. A positive one or negative one. Do you see your glass half full or half empty?

As for my husband and I, we’re not only looking forward to coming back, but we would recommend this cottage to anyone.

I didn’t have the pleasure of meeting the owner in person but I did speak with her many times on the phone and through email. She made sure we had all the information we needed for our stay at the cottage like; the keys, Wi-Fi, not only a list of the grocery stores and restaurants but directions to them. Where the life vests were, the telephone number to the cottage as well as her number. In my opinion she went above and beyond the call of being a landlord to make sure our stay was perfect and all I can say is Thank You
