About Abigail Crosby

This home was built by our parents in the early 1960's, and is now owned by all their children.

Abigail Crosby purchased this bungalow in 1964

Why Abigail Crosby chose Fire Island

Fire Island is very unique and impossible to imagine if you have not been there. No personal vehicles...only board walks, sand and island greenery! All houses on stilts! Walk everywhere...within the community, or between communities! The beach is mostly white sand, going the entire length of the Island. Life Guard services at the public beach in front of the Casino Restaurant & the end of Trustees Walk directly across the Island from the main ferry dock.

What makes this bungalow unique

Our house is small, quaint and rustic... No water views, but close to the bay and the Atlantic ocean! Kitchen opens to common area so no one misses the fun and the stories! House comes complete with beds made, and includes dishwasher and washer/dryer.

True Fire Island Beach House

  • 5 of 5

This was a great house for our large group to stay for the weekend! Everyone fit comfortably and it had everything we needed. The best part was BBQing on the large wrap around deck. Everyone that came by the house complimented it and said "this is a true Fire Island beach house!" If you frequent Davis Park, you will appreciate it's charm. Abigail was also a great host and very responsive!

Beautiful beach!

  • 5 of 5

We’ve done numerous FI rentals and appreciated the peace & quiet of this community and its beach. The location is quiet enough we could actually hear the waves while we were falling asleep! Abby was a good communicator and easy to work with. There were a few small things but they were out of her control--such as mosquitos or wifi--but that’s part of beach life and the screens were new enough they did a good job holding the night critters at bay. Between the ceiling fans & room ones we were very comfortable and didn’t miss a/c. The kitchen is well stocked with cooking equipment: a good blender, coffee maker, many pots & pans, etc. We were glad to have two bathrooms and be able to assign one to the teens in the family! The showers were all great, including the outdoor one, and the deck and grill were much enjoyed and a good place to begin or end the day. A great end to our summer!

July 4th Week

  • 5 of 5

Abby was a responsive and a great host. The place was true to the pictures, the beds were comfortable and all of the appliances worked well. The new fridge and cast iron pans were a bonus. Directions for both check in and check out were extremely clear and well thought out along with pictures of carts, etc. The house had a clam bucket, beach chairs and some extra coolers which was also appreciated.

My only little nitpick is I would have strongly preferred a noon check out on the final day. To be fair I didn't notice/inquire until after she had the cleaners set up, but 10 am is a little early.

We would rent this place again.

Owner's Response: Thank you! I totally get it! From time to time we can fit in late checkouts and early arrivals, but house cleaners have too much to fit in on turnover day after the 4th of July week :)

Tranquil and terrific

  • 5 of 5

I expected a rustic house with easy access to the beach and that is exactly what I got. The rooms are cozy, there are 2 full bathrooms and an outdoor shower and we fit 8 people comfortably. The kitchen was big and there is a large BBQ and large table outside. Location is a short walk (5 min) to the beach, and probably closer to the bay, but we didn't go there, and 7 min to the harbor and bar. Davis Park is tranquil and idyllic and I highly recommend it. While the house is sort of in the middle of things, it is much cheaper than other properties closer to the beach, and I think the trade-off was worth it. The only downside was there was no WiFi, which was disappointing because we wanted to play music from our phones, but we ended up just using our data. There was also a TV with DirectTV, a radio and several board games.

Abby was very helpful throughout the booking process and provided a bunch of helpful information by email and texts.

Wonderful stay at 'middle earth'

  • 5 of 5

Our stay was wonderful. The large living room and deck gave us plenty of space to relax and enjoy our stay. This is a lovely place to stay within a 5 min walk to the beach and bay...who can knock that?! We would recommend staying here to anyone and everyone who wants a fun beach house with great accommodations.
