I am a retired, married English woman, who has settled in France after several years of travelling Europe in a converted historic Dutch sailing barge.I have run this house as a gite for over five years, and live about 45 minutes away in the department of Saone et Loire.
Helen purchased this House in 2010
Why Helen chose Bligny-sur-Ouche
This house is perfectly suited as a holiday retreat, being light, calm and sympathetically restored. It has a south facing private terrace with views for sitting quietly after a hard day's relaxing! It is ideally suited, not just for couples and families, but also for lovers of wine and good food, being situated close to the Route des grands Crus and with excellent restaurants nearby.A folder containing information for "foodies" and wine buffs is provided at the house, and the very well equipped kitchen is much appreciated by those holiday makers who love preparing local produce themselves.
What makes this House unique
All the amenities of a well appointed village, but situated in a small cul-de-sac,with views up to the 13th century church from the terrace.Perfect for watching the life of the village passing by. This gite has been awarded four stars by the French tourist board, and also holds the Trip Avisor Certificate Of Excellence.

Excellent, Excellent, Excellent
Immaculately presented property. Hugh standard on cleanliness. Had everything you needed and instructions on how to use everything,
Helen went above and beyond in accomodating our checkin, even when we were delayed.
You do need a car to stay here but highly recommend this home in a lovely French village.
Thank you so much for your kind review.
I am very happy that you appreciated the cleanliness of the house, it is very important to me that all our guests feel that the house is clean and well presented.
I am also happy that I was able to accommodate your arrival needs. You were clear why you required some flexibility, and kept me very well informed, so it was a pleasure to be able to help.
It was a pleasure to have your family as guests, and I do thank you for all the care you took in leaving the house in immaculate condition. I would be very happy to have you for a longer stay if you ever have the opportunity to revisit.
A wonderful holiday!
We had an excellent holiday in Bligny. The house was lovely and cool and centrally located in the village. The village itself was very nice too. A bakery, a Tabac, a grocery a supermarket within walking distance and even a chocolate factory! Bligny was happily situated near to Beaune and Dijon and very close to nearby lakes with beaches and some great open air swimming pools. We saw vineyards, chateaux and cities and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Helen was great with communication and her house is delightful. Highly recommend it.
Thank you so much,Vanessa. You wrote a lovely summary of all the advantages of a stay in Bligny.I hope your words encourage future guests to come and enjoy this area ,and I am so glad you had a good holiday yourselves.
Comfortable, pretty house in the lovely Val d'Ouche
Helen welcomed us warmly to this comfortably appointed house. We especially enjoyed the terrace with its rosebushes and grape vine. Home comforts included a good bed and a well-kitted-out kitchen. Bligny is a pretty riverside town with a couple of cafes, a very good bakery (La Belineenne) and an outstanding farm-to-fork restaurant, La Ferme de la Ruchotte.
Thank you so much for doing a review. I am glad enjoyed your stay, and your feedback is much appreciated.
Beautiful home from home
This is a very comfortable house in a lovely location, with easy access to some interesting towns and villages. The kitchen is well equipped so we cooked most evenings, and ate outside watching the world go by. We got all our shopping from the supermarket on the edge of town which had everything we needed. Bligny itself is a lovely quiet village, we had drinks in the bar in town but didn’t eat there. Places we visited whilst here were Autun , Saulieu, Beaune, Chateauneuf, Flavigny-sur-Ozerain, Vezelay and Troyes, favourites being Autun, Chateauneuf and Vezelay. Beaune is lovely too but busier and there seem to be a lot of American and Canadian tourists there. The Cathedral restaurant at the back of the the cathedral in Autun does a nice salad, you can sit outside under the shade of the trees. Vezelay has an interesting modern art gallery and the Hotel Dieu in Beaune is worth a visit. Chateauneuf is a stunning village and the Chateau is great and entry is very reasonable. All I all I would highly recommend the house and area for a thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable holiday.
Thank you so much for your lovely, very comprehensive review.I really appreciate when people take the time to do a review, and this one really gives future guests an idea of what to expect.I am really glad you enjoyed your visit to Burgundy, and got so much out of it.It was a pleasure to have you staying.
We had wonderful week at Les Rosiers. It a beautiful old cottage in a small quiet village, with lots of things of interest. Helen met us and showed us around the house and left a lovely welcome basket. The neighbours are very friendly but unfortunately our French was not good enough for us to converse! The house is spacious and well equipped, the flowers and grapevine are gorgeous and the small terrace is just right for a glass of wine and to watch the village life
Wonderful stay in Bligney sur Ouche
The spacious and well-equipped cottage is situated in a lovely village not far from Beaune. It is a quiet and peaceful village where you can relax or use as a base to explore Beaune, Dijon and the surrounding countryside. Thank you for our stay, Helen, we had a wonderful time.
A folder containing extensive tourist information is left in the house detailing the many outdoor pursuits, chateaux, wine tours, and ancient abbeys to be found within one hour's drive of the property. There is also a tourist office about 500 metres from the house in Bligny sur Ouche
