Bedrooms 3
Half Baths1
Space 204 m²
Property type house
Minimum Stay 3 nights

About the property

3 bedroom 2.5 bathroom creek side home with canyon views 10 miles to Sedona

Step into "Call of the Canyon" and you will quickly realize you have found a special place. Generous windows give view to the peaceful stream and soaring canyon. Located in the Coconino National Forest, next to West Fork Oak Creek trail you will find plenty to explore in your own backyard. Walk down the steps to the creek and fish for trout or just relax and enjoy the scenery from the deck and try out the new Weber gas grill.

The house has 3 levels. The main level opens up to a fully equipped kitchen, living room and half bathroom. Within the kitchen is a dining table with seating for 4 plus 3 bar stools for counter-top eating. There is also a washer/dryer within a closet off the kitchen.

The living room has ample seating to enjoy views of the creek and soaring canyon. There is also a working fireplace within the living room.

Off the main level is the deck- a perfect place for morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. The deck is accessed through a sliding screen door off the living room. We have two cocktail sized tables that can be put on the deck. There are 4 tall chairs and 2 bar stools that can be used on the deck as well. We also have a grill for your use.

The house has a total of three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms.

The Master Bedroom has a king bed with an en- suite bathroom and double vanity. There is also a private door entry to this bedroom. The master is located on the lower level and does have generous window views to the creek.

The Guest Bedroom has a queen bed with an en-suite bathroom and double vanity. There is also a private door entry to this bedroom. It too has generous windows with views to the creek. This bedroom is located on the lower level.

The Loft Bedroom is located on the upper level. Natural light fills the bedroom. The loft area does not have its own bathroom.

We do have wifi. We cannot guarantee that it will be perfect 100% of the time as the location/canyon signal is sometimes intermittent.

Please note that due to the location of this property and the environmental benefits gained we have opted to use Sun-Mar composting toilets. Operating the toilets is not difficult. You do not use water. Its a composting system in which you use peat moss and turn a drum.

Oak Creek Canyon is approximately 12 miles long and 2000 feet deep. Although private and out of town, Sedona is just 15 minutes away or 9.5 miles. A number of small shops are conveniently located to the home. Junipine Cafe and the Butterfly Garden serve food and are only minutes from the home. Slide Rock Park is just 4 miles south from the house. Here you can enjoy a day of fun swimming on the natural rocks. According to Rand McNally, the Oak Creek Scenic Drive is one of the Top 5 Most Scenic Drives in America.

Private creek perfection!!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the privacy and access to the trailhead. Spacious and every amentity available. Creek access is unparalleled. You have absolutely no neighbors. Only downside was the composting toilets. The one downstairs was loud and relentless. Also a little to high off the ground for comfort. Other than that this place is perfect. Deck reaches out over the creek and the sound will serenade you to sleep each night. A++

Tucked away. Perfect R&R location! Balcony + creek = perfection.

I grew up near Sedona and was so excited to share Oak Creek Canyon with my children for the first time! This home provided plenty of space for the six of us (2 adults, 4 children) and ample opportunities for exploration and relaxation. My children loved having the private creek as their backyard...(wadding in the water, observing huge dragon flies, butterflies, and even an Arizona King Snake - not to be confused with the venomous Arizona Coral Snake lol), going to Slide Rock only a few miles south, and of course being adjacent to West Fork Trailhead! AMAZING!! We also went into Sedona to see a movie and eat once, but really enjoyed just being at the house...far enough away to really unwind and be part of nature. My children have been asking when we get to go back again already. I can't wait to enjoy my coffee on the balcony patio again while listening to the creek and watching the trees gently move as the air flows through the canyon. So gorgeous! Blissful location for sure.

Loved it - I would not hesitate to book again.

  • 5 of 5

Great location, great home. The composting toilets caught my kids by surprise but once I explained their operation and purpose, and they realized they didn't stink, they didn't have any issues. We loved wading through the creek and our hike in west fork was unforgettable. The host was responsive and pleasant. Great experience!

Great location -nestled in the woods.

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 3 days with our girls. We did have a bit of a difficult time finding it. If you've gone past the shack in the parking lot, you've gone too far. Make an immediate right after entering the parking lot. The drive is a bit narrow but once you're in, everything else is a breeze. Great views! Slept to the sound of the adjoining creek. The beds were comfy and the kitchen had all the items I needed.

Writers retreat

  • 5 of 5

This is a hidden in plain sight gem. We had a great time and I would book again, it was worth all the money to have such a special space. I had a writers retreat weekend with a friend and we took time to stay in the space and enjoy the quiet. The view is fantastic and a simple yet comfortable space to be BE. We have enough floor space in the main area to do yoga, play board games, or just unfold all of our papers. We pushed open the windows to hear the babble of the creek, and slept well. There is a loft that is fantastic to write in. Beds are comfy and appreciate the high quality bedding. Privacy in the bedrooms is comfortable and you can hide in them to be alone and feel "away". The depth of the mountain terrain is clearly felt and fun to be in the black night of the trees.

Other things to consider on this site: You will be at the foot of the entrance into the park and hidden under the main road. In the morning the cars will block you in the drive, and people are happy to move because they are waiting up to an hour to get a parking space in the park. not a problem- but needs fore-thought. You will be on a twisty road that is difficult to maneuver at night, and if you come with a big vehicle ( in any vehicle) please take your time. Night driving can be nerve wracking the first few times in from town. locals drive faster than tourists. The toileting is very nature friendly but not comfortable in the " easy home-feel way" and for those who have lived with indoor plumbing their whole life this may be a shocker. We cityfolk pooped away from the site as often as we could because the composting toilet, while we understood and agreed with the environmental portion of the toilet, WELL- it is definitely a memory we will talk about for YEARS. There are no dressers or hangers to speak of, so if you are planning a long trip- you will have to live out of your suitcase. Laundry is on site and can do a small load. The internet will not work outside of the main floor, so if you are trying to use iPad and such- know they will only work on the main floor, that is important if you are trying to stream music. The very nature of where this hideaway is makes phones impossible without internet. The basics are here, you can cook, normal water functions, plus the fridge can hold a week of groceries. Get groceries FIRST because nothing is near. This is lovely little escape and do not let my "stuff to know" dissuade you from booking. It is lovely.
