Heart of Old Town - Rue Ste Reparate - sleeps 6 guests in 2 bedrooms
It’s the location!
You are staying here for the location in the middle of the old city of Nice. Vibrant, lots of excellent restaurants, people mingling, good base for exploring the city. We stayed here for 2 weeks in July. The main salon is comfortable and spacious and with the ceiling fan and windows on two sides, it stays reasonably comfortable in the heat. Good tv, good WiFi. The master bedroom bed is very comfortable but in the hot days of summer it can be a bit warm for sleeping.....even with the ceiling fan. You need the window open to create airflow, and all the sound reflects off the neighboring buildings and drifts up. Bring earplugs!! Friday and Sat nights the partiers love to have a good time. Lots of closet space. You pass thru several ”climate zones” going up the 90 stairs to the apartment. The restaurant next door vents into the stairwell and it gets quite warm from floors 2-3. You do think twice before heading out to get the fresh croissants in the morning! Kitchen had everything we needed. Bathroom a bit small.....you had to close the door to use the toilet, which was a bit oppressive with the heat. Our only real negative was our “welcome”. I called a couple of days before we were to arrive to set up an arrival time and to understand how do to our arrival since we were driving into Nice with our rental car. Could we park near the apartment to unload luggage? Was there a close parking garage? Etc. I was surprised that the response was that “this is an old building and yes, the floor was crooked and.....and if I was going to complain, then I should just cancel now”. Wow! And then I was informed to make sure to factor in traffic while trying to make it to our scheduled arrival time. So we got to Nice an hour early, the apartment 10 minutes early and after 30 minutes, still no one showed up. Borrowed a phone from the restaurant next door and called and was told by Matthew that he had expected we would call first (never discussed) and that he was 30 minutes away! One hour of standing out front. (Coincidence that France was playing a World Cup game during that time.?)
We are glad that the guests enjoyed their stay. There seems to have been some misunderstanding about the meet and greet and the Property Manager doesnt like football!
Very pleasant stay right in the middle of Nice
Right in the centre of everything: 5min walk from sea, 2 min from Cours Saleya, etc. Not suitable for people who have difficulty in walking, poor condition etc because of stairs (90 steps, high temperature).
Lovely, lovely Old Town
Fantastic location in the heart of the Old Town - a couple of minutes walk to the beach and market, yet with maze of old town streets all around. The apartment is great value with a stunning view over life unfolding in the old town. Strongly recommend staying here!
A Great Place to Stay
This flat is wonderfully situated in the heart of the old city and near both food and antique markets, shops and excellent eating eating places. It is close to the sea and the Colline with wonderful views of the port and the city and to many bus routes. The flat The flat itself is comfortable, practical and well fitted out, furnished and decorated in a tasteful, contemporary style. It has a wonderful view which is compensation for the flights of stairs to reach it.
I have now visited three times with different friends and we have always enjoyed our stay hugely!
The apartment is in the heart of the Old Town Nice only a stones throw from the beach, market and bus/tram stops. The best wine shop, cake shop and ice cream sellers for 100s variety as well as boutique shops and restaurants are all within metres of your front door.
It is easily accessible only a 15m bus ride from the airport. From the station 1km away you can easily reach Antibes and Cannes in one direction and Monaco and Italy the the other. Public transport is cheap and reliable and travelling to these places by bus costs only €1.
