THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING! The mountains are calling you to this Rocky Mountain retreat in the San Juans, a haven to relax, recharge and rediscover the awesome views and adventures of Southwest Colorado.
This condo, located in the Gamble Oaks section of the beautiful Tamarron area north of Durango, is your base camp to discover the San Juan Mountains, what legendary Colorado photographer John Fielder calls,"…the largest, the most varied, and arguably the most scenic of the ranges in Colorado."
EASY IN-EASY OUT! That's a great description of this recently remodeled condo. The only stairs you'll climb are the five to get you to the front door, making it easy to unload luggage, groceries and outdoor equipment. Maximum occupancy is 4 with a king bed, two air mattresses and sleeper sofa (preferably two adults and two children).
ALL THE MODERN CONVENIENCES! Your haven away from home has it all: a completely remodeled kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances, a new WASHER and DRYER for your convenience, a brand new 48 inch HDTV in the great room, where you can kick back and watch your favorite sporting events; walls and pocket doors recently added to enclose a bedroom (king bed) and to maximize the space, and there's even a storage area in front to store your fishing poles, tackle box and ice chests.
Free Shuttle Service is offered to Purgatory Ski Resort (must register at the front desk).
The clubhouse includes exercise facility, sauna and steam room and pool.
VIEWS,VIEWS, VIEWS! We spend our mornings on the back deck, looking out to Missionary Ridge, and our afternoons on the front deck, watching the sun set over the heavenly Hermosa Cliffs. They're also great places to watch for deer, coyotes, elk, bear and birds while surrounded by the San Juan Mountains and the breathtaking Glacier Club Golf Course.
ADVENTURES ABOUND! To the south: Durango- the rustic railroad and cowboy town. It's home to Fort Lewis College with its campus in the sky and the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad. It's also the gateway to Mesa Verde National Park, one of the top park destinations in America.
To the north: Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort, one of the top Colorado ski areas in the winter and one of the top family fun destinations in the summer. You can also take in some fantastic views at Coal Bank Pass, Molas Pass and Silverton. Also, drive the Million Dollar Highway Loop to Ouray, Telluride, Ridgeway and around to Cortez. There's an incredible mountain view around every bend.
CATCH YOUR LIMIT…AND MORE! If you're interested in fishing, help yourself to our fishing poles, tackle and chairs and you're off. There are great fishing spots minutes form our condo. Haviland Lake is our favorite-only 3 minutes away from Tamarron north on Hwy 550. Catch beautiful rainbows, in the shadows of the Hermosa Cliffs. You can also cast for trout at nearby Electra Lake or Anderson Lake near Molas Pass. Fly fishing on the awesome Animas River is also a top angling destination. Valecito Lake, east of Durango, is also a popular fishing and boating getaway.
HIKE IN HEAVEN! We are also just minutes away from some of the best hiking trails in Colorado. Our favorites include: "Purgatory Flats" near Durango Mountain Resort, "Cascade Creek," north of DMR, "Elbert's Creek," the trailhead next to the corral at the Needles Country Store. You can also access the famous Colorado Trail at Junction Creek, near Durango. You can see for miles and miles at one of our favorite stops: "Gudy's Rest."
SPA-TACULAR! After a great day of hiking, relax with a soak or a mountain massage at the famous Trimble Spa, at Trimble Crossing, a fews miles south of our condo.
RELAX AND REFRESH! After your day of discovery, check out one if three restaurants on site or James Ranch, Hermisa Creek Grill or The Nugget nearby.
John Muir once said: "The Mountains are calling and I must go." Once you experience the magic and the majesty of the San Juans from your base camp at our home in Tamarron, you will hear the mountains calling and you will return again…and again!
