A half-mile walk to Fred's for a quick lunch of their famous Chili will have you ready to cross Highway 184 for a visit to the recently built DOG PARK! On the way back from riding, a quick stop at the TROUT FARMS on NC-105, will ensure a great ending to a fun-filled day!

VIDEO CAMERAS: There are THREE cameras on sight - one on the upper level facing the front of the house and parking area; and another one in the back under the deck covering the fire pit area; and one in the corner by the bbq area. All record motion and sound.

PETS - pets must be supervised at all times. There is always a possibility that a pet can escape and get lost in the woods. Always keep them within sight.

Great Spot
We ended up walking down the back of the house rather than the trail and the end of the road to catch the slopes. Pretty steep hill, could use some small steps to get up and down. House was clean, refrigerator ice machine did not work. Otherwise everything was great and exactly as listed. Thanks for letting us stay at your home. Would stay again!

President’s weekend
We had a great stay at this rental. The location was very good and very accessible to the slopes. The house was updated and well supplied. it was very welcoming to our fur family. Our dog loved his area. Having an area for skis and boots was a big plus. We definitely look forward to renting again.

Clean cozy mountain house
We loved our stay! The house was even better in real life than the pictures showed. Our family had plenty of room and the house felt warm and cozy. We had the best time playing in the snow! Location is awesome, very close to things and a short walk to slopes. Although it wasn’t an easy walk with almost 2 ft of fresh snow but it made for a fun adventure! Would absolutely stay here again!

Birthday ski trip
Another family ski trip to celebrate our daughters birthday on Beech Mountain. We try to stay in a ski in/ski out every year. Yes, this house is technically a ski in/ski out, IF there is plenty of natural snow on the ground. If not, you have a short walk down the road and a bit of tricky walk down the path in the woods. There is a creek running down the path and you have to maneuver down a slight hill and we had to walk through the creek/water to get to the slope. Which is the Upper Powder Bowl slope. You can also access the new Carolina Caribbean slope by walking down the backyard, again a bit tricky but it comes out at the top this new beginner trail and you can ski down to any of the lifts. This carpet lift stops running at 5pm, so if you are skiing after that, the path from Upper Powder Bowl is how to get home. New lift system works really well, long lines on a Saturday move pretty quick. As for the house, it fit our family of 8 very well, bedrooms were comfortable, bathrooms had the essentials, living room was big enough for us all to gather and play games and kitchen was well stocked. Host was quick and easy to communicate with. We did not have any pets but the cozy little sleep area and fenced in front yard are very nice.

About the host

Hosted by Betty Trueba

Host profile image
Carlos and Betty have been married for 41 years and have a beautiful family that has been expanding these past few years. Nicole, our eldest, has three children and Valerie, has two. We enjoy traveling, skiing, mountain biking, and running (not Carlos though). Most of all, we love our two American Bulldogs, Mimi (who passed away on August 3, 2021 from cancer) and Junior, (passed away June 6, 2022) who are always excited to join us on our travel adventures and have already visited quite a few states in our travel trailer. We have adopted Hannah, an American Staffordshire from a rescue, as of 2019. and in 2020, purchased another vacation home in Flagler Beach, Florida (not rentable) which we use often. Between Beech and the beach, we always enjoy our homes away from home.

Why they chose this property

North Carolina has always tugged at their hearts having visited the area often with their family. This past winter, after visiting the vacant lot they own in RiverBend at Lake Lure, Carlos and Betty decided it was time to build the cabin of their dreams. They continued their Christmas vacation to Beech Mountain discussing their plans and stayed at the Treehouse Condominiums near Kick Turn Lane. They had visited this area before and had even vacationed in the cabin nearest the slopes in 2005. While going through a real estate brochure, Betty found that 106 was on sale and the rest is history. They were able to do a quick walk through and immediately upon their return to Miami, decided to purchase the cabin, realizing this was their dream home and location. Eager to share in their good fortune, the Truebas have opened their home to other families and guests looking to enjoy the beauty of North Carolina.

What makes this property unique

Ski, Pedals 'n Paws offers the best of all worlds . Enjoy all the outdoor activities close by and then come home and relax by the fire. Best of all, your pets will always be welcome regardless of breed, since Betty often fosters and rescues dogs back in Miami.
