Come and enjoy all that Lake Ethel has to offer--one of the state's clearest lakes, great fishing, great boating, waterskiing, personal watercraft riding, kayaking, canoeing, paddleboating, sailboating and much more. Lake Ethel has a public access and a sandy, weed-free bottom only chest deep at the end of the dock. This sturdy cabin is located just feet from the shore of beautiful Lake Ethel. It can sleep 4 comfortably in two bedrooms, and 2 more on a futon. This cabin has a 3/4 bath, kitchen and living room space. Immerse yourself in all of Lake Ethel's beauty by stepping onto a full deck or enjoy it from inside through one of two lakeside glass patio doors. New for 2017, cabin is equipped with wi-fi and we are licensed as an Otter Tail County rental property. New in 2018, we added a water treatment system to purify the drinking water.

About Bruce Jonason
We have been enjoying Lake Ethel's beauty together since 1980 when Sandy's parents first purchased the property next door. We were fortunate enough to purchase that property from them in 1999 which enabled us to continue enjoying this beautiful lake. We live in the Twin Cities area and are raising six children, all of whom enjoy all Lake Ethel has to offer.
Bruce Jonason purchased this Cabin in 2015
Why Bruce Jonason chose Battle Lake
We purchased a lake cabin on this lake from Sandy's parents who first purchased the property back in 1980. We have enjoyed spending time at this lake since then. As our six children continue to grow and eventually begin their own families, we anticipate the need for more space at the lake, so when this cabin became available, we purchased it to accommodate our family's future growth. In the meantime, we are able to share these great experiences with others.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cozy cabin sits just a few feet from the lakeshore, and you cannot help but feel relaxed as you enjoy fishing or boating by day and the cool breezes and loon calls at the campfire by night. This lot offers a shallow, weed-free swimming area, great for the kids! Feel free to bring your own boat or use ours and keep it on our small boat lift. We can provide you multiple ways to enjoy the lake: enjoy the view while connected to wi-fi, with a paddleboat, canoe, kayaks, or a sailboat if you would like--just ask us! For 2017, we are a licensed rental property in Otter Tail County!

Great place to stay
Perfect layout of cabin and wonderful view of the lake. Kayaks, canoe and boat were fun to use and the large deck was awesome. Fishing was great and fish were delicious. Would definitely stay there again.
Beautiful & serene
The cabin was clean and welcoming. We stayed during the week, so we felt like we had the whole lake to ourselves. Water great for swimming in. Nice to have use of the paddleboat & kayaks. We would definitely stay here again!!
Amazing deck and windows!
We stayed in Bruce's cabin July 2018. We have stayed on Ethel Lake before at the resort and in family homes; we've been visiting Ottertail County lakes for 20+ years.
The cabin itself is darling. The owners have made it comfortable and welcoming. Bruce and his family own the property next door, but were only there on the weekend of our trip. They answered our questions at check in and then gave us all the peace and quiet we could dream of. Dishes, pots, pans, some paper towels, toilet paper and trash bags are provided. Also, a few dish towels and two bathroom towels were provided, which is nice. The bunk beds weren't the most comfortable in the world, but we slept fine. The bathroom is a nice size, though the shower is quite small--definitely a challenge for shaving legs!--but gets the job done. There are several hooks in the bathroom, perfect for wet towels and swimsuits, and there is a clothesline. Good size gas grill as well.
The deck and the sliding doors and window offer AMAZING day and night views of the lake. We spent virtually all our time eating/drinking/playing games on the deck. The views of the lake from every room, the privacy, and comfort overall make this cabin worth every penny.
Right off the dock is good swimming--no weeds really to speak of, and quite sandy.
I would love to see the owners put in laminate or luxury vinyl tile (LVT) or tile floors, especially with wet, sandy feet much of the time. But the carpet patches and rugs aren't terrible. I would love a bigger shower, but again, the shower worked fine.
Would highly recommend this cabin and plan to return.
Don't forget your firewood and lighter fluid for 'smores!
Beautiful peaceful sandy lake. Cabin was very charming and very clean. Would stay there again but our family is growing so needed a bigger cabin. Kayaking around the lake was awesome! I would of rated 5 stars but crossing the slippery rocks to get to the water to swim was the only drawback.
This is my idea of a cabin by the lake. Right on the water, quiet setting with a clean lake. Nice cabin, they just installed a water purifier, so that was nice. Newer gas grill. If you want to be on the water, bring your own boat. Big deck and lots of other lakes nearby for fun and action.
This was our 3rd stay at this cabin and we will definitely stay again! Owners are very easy to work with. We enjoy the small and quiet lake, it is so relaxing.
Enjoy yourself on a very clear 200 acre lake. On a very busy day, you might see 4-5 boats using the lake, but generally, you will have the lake to yourself. When you need something else to do, enjoy one of two 18 hole golf courses or a 9 hole golf course, each less than 8 miles away. Glendalough State Park with its abundance of wildlife and antique stores are also nearby.
