About Nathan Beck
We found this house in Mathews on a Saturday when we decided to look for waterfront property on the prior Wednesday, it was that easy! When we drove through downtown Mathews, even before seeing the house, we knew Mathews was the place for our future getaways. And then it took us about 6 years to rehab the house to it's current state. Mathews is a special place for those looking for relaxation, peace and to get away form it all to recharge.
Nathan Beck purchased this Farmhouse in 2007
Why Nathan Beck chose
We are happy to talk with you about the house and the Mathews area! This is our fifth season (2019) and we have been joyfully overwhelmed by the interest! Every year we update and try to improve the property in various ways. This past Winter we added new concrete kitchen counters!
What makes this Farmhouse unique
We have no visible "next door neighbors", (although the neighbors are great). To one side of the property is a Nature Conservancy coastal area, approximately 100 acres. The picture here is just past the house making the 15 minute walk to one of the overlooks facing Mobjack Bay. You can see the Chesapeake Bay too. From the screen back porch "room" 28x16 you can see the Wolf trap lighthouse at night and sometimes during the day. There is much wildlife and on the ground and flying above to watch while on the porch and property!

We had a wonderful time as a family here- all ages! There was so much to do- kayaking to beaches, biking, spending an afternoon in Mathews... The home is peaceful and lovely. A great place to slow down!
Everything was better than described, just far enough off of the grid to feel truly private and some of the best views I’ve seen in quite some time. The house was perfect and I would definitely recommend it and visit again in the future.
If seclusion is your goal, this place is perfect. So much land/space! Cozy, comfy home
The house is well decorated and has that old country charm. The double beds were quite comfy. Beautiful space and surroundings, very peaceful. The ground down to the water is VERY swampy. There are boots for your use but I would recommend bringing your own. Listing states 2 other bedrooms have a double and bunk beds. Only 1 room has a bunk bed. Second bedroom has a double and a single blow up matress. I got 1 message from the owner before we arrived, responded, and heard nothing more. Sent him a message concerning the grill while there. Got back a 1 word answer. A/c worked well, water held out, no issues. The microwave is difficult to get to work. Unable to use the grill due to difficulty of use. We really enjoyed the beauty of the properties surrounding and seclusion. Great space to bond w/ the family. If you are up for a hike and like to be up close and personal w/ marine life, this is the place for you. Be prepared!
Beautiful Property. Tons of fun for kids and adults!
We loved every minute! From just relaxing on the beautiful porches. To exploring the waterways with the kayaks and crab fishing with the provided crab pots. It offers a little something for all. Nathan was a great host. He was quick with responses and even brought us an extra air conditioner when the heat was in the 100s. I definitely recommend this if your looking to get away from the big cities. It's a great place to unwind and explore. Thanks for having us <3
We had a great stay in the Farmhouse! Plenty of space for everyone and super well appointed. Nathan is a great host, and we didn’t need a thing. Everything from the view from the awesome back porch to the great decor inside contributed to my family’s relaxing time on the bay. We will definitely use this home again! Thank you Nathan!
Spacious house and porch with a small town feel
We loved this comfortable house and wrap around porch! Beds were firm and we slept well. Note that only 1 of the 3 bedrooms has twin beds, not 2 of them as appears in the pictures. We highly recommend Bethel beach, lots of shallow calm water that's great for kids as long as you're wearing water shoes (lots of oyster shells). The canoe at the house is a little hard to steer but the kayak worked well. Beautiful fig and muscadine groves at the house. They spray for mosquitos and have an outdoor shower with hot water! Bring extra toilet paper and paper towels with you.
