Overview

About the property

On the Creek Bed and Breakfast now has a newly built, self-catering cottage, with its own fully equipped kitchenette (two burner induction stove top and Breville Smart oven), fireplace, Wi-Fi and a private screened porch. It is situated in spacious, landscaped grounds sloping towards the river where there is a canoe for guest use to canoe to town. Only a 10 - 12 minute walk to Middlebury College's Bicentennial Hall. 18 minute walk to town. We also have bicycles for guests to use. The cottage can accommodate a family of 4 comfortably with a queen bed on the first floor and 2 singles on the upper level. It is not suitable for very young children just beginning to move about and explore because of the spiral staircase and pull out kitchen drawers.

We live in the main house where we have two rooms which are rented as B&B. We are available to give advice on the area and provide hiking and bicycling maps.

Stellar!

The grounds are lovely. Inside the cottage has a sleek, contemporary look with a cozy, comfortable feel... very inviting. Made me wish our activities didn't take us away from it so much. Zelia and Gary couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

charming little cottage in middlebury

  • 5 of 5

Zelia and Gary have built a small but lovely cottage in their spacious garden in Middlebury. We rented it for 2 stretches in the summer of 2017 (two adults, two children). The cottage is very comfortable and it was a great pleasure waking up in the morning and having a coffee on the porch, watching the sun come up over the garden, and occasionally seeing a rabbit or otter. (The end of the garden meets Otter Creek--we were brave enough to try the canoe once.) It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the centre of Middlebury from there. We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it.

New and conveniently located

  • 5 of 5

The cottage is new, has comfortable beds, and is stocked with anything you would need. It is on a very large lot with a beautiful view of gardens and Otter Creek. You can easily drive or walk to Middlebury. The owners were friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them.

I was in town for business and my wife joined me. This was a perfect getaway and a place to recharge after long days working. We will certainly return

Nor'easter Week!

  • 5 of 5

I stayed in this lovely cottage for five nights, which included about 24 hours of a huge snowstorm that shut down Middlebury College and much of the town as well. The cottage was very clean and cozy and warm, even during the storm, and is perfectly located to see friends in the area and at the College. Because of the storm, I had to communicate with the hosts, Zelia and Gary, fairly often about logistics, such as moving the car and plowing, and Gary stayed right on top of all the storm-related work, including shoveling, snow-blowing, and offering me a ride to the food co-op to make sure I had provisions before and immediately after the storm. The bedding is great, and the gas fireplace / heater keeps the cottage very warm. I already have fond memories of waking up in the dark cottage and seeing the soft yellow light from the gas fire flickering on the walls in the living room. It was pretty idyllic. Oh, and the view down to Otter Creek is gorgeous, especially at dawn. Thank you, Zelia and Gary, for making the cottage available. It was so nice to have a home base for my visit where I could have some solitude or entertain my friends, as I chose.
