About Christy Buchanan

Looking for a perfect mountain home for our family we came across this awesome home. Previously known as the "Nisqually River Longhouse", then turned into our private residence. With nature at our backdoor we enjoyed walks to the river, hiking at the park in the summer and tubing in the winter time. We are excited to share our mountain home with others and help them create a great vacation!

Relaxing charming get away

  • 5 of 5

We had 3 families including 2 children. There was space for everyone. We were there 2 hot days and never were too warm in the cabin. We brought bikes for the kids and there were very safe streets for them to ride on. Perfect location next to the entrance to the park. Lovely place.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The Bunkhouse was a blast, probably the best place to stay if you want to enjoy the National Park. Christy was great and easy to work with, if you decide to stay here I recommend contacting her early about getting a massage with her friend Kathleen, she was great and it was totally worth it. It is important to recognize that at peak periods the wait to get in to Mount Rainer can be several hours long, staying here you can sleep in eat a quick breakfast and still get to the park before the line gets long because it takes less than 2 minutes to get there. We got to the park early and were able to get back to the house early. The one draw back to being so close during peak periods is that you are kind of stuck at the house. On Sunday morning we went to Paradise did a hike, went to Narada falls had lunch, and were back to the house by 2:00, the line to get get into the park and thus into the house from the west didn’t dye down until after 4:00 thus we couldn’t go into town to shop or get anything from a store without waiting in the park line to get back to the house. Overall this was an excellent place to stay and we had a blast.

Perfect for our Base Camp

  • 4 of 5

The house was great for our group that supported our friends who climbed the mountain. We were able to hike in the park while they climbed. We loved the big dining table and kitchen that was excellently equipped. The unique hot tub was a plus and we took advantage of the fire pit each night. Just wonderful for a big group that is interested in spending time in the park. Beautiful.

The only downside was that there is only one shower in the house, as the upstairs bathroom is just a tub.

We had a fabulous stay at Buchanan's bunkhouse. The property is beautiful and perfect for a weekend escape from Seattle. Christy was very easy to work with and our group loved how close we were to the Rainier entrance. We can't wait to go back!

Wintertime Escape

  • 5 of 5

We celebrated my wife’s birthday here and were pleased to see that the description and photos matched the bunkhouse completely. The kitchen was well-equipped. We liked the idea of experiencing a salt water hot tub and it did not disappoint. The water was hot and it was quiet and relaxing. We took the room with the spa tub and the bed was comfortable. The location is great, so very close to the entrance of the mountain. And we didn’t notice any noise from the main road nearby. We did do some snowshoeing but we really just wanted to spend time at the house and ended up watching Netflix, putting together a jigsaw puzzle on the huge dining room table, and enjoying the hot tub. Christy was friendly and professional. She gave us advice on where to go to eat in town. We’d love to go back. Hopefully, it will snow next time!
