What a relaxing weekend. Very quiet, very peaceful. We rested well in the bed and made good use of the hot tub! Waking up late, taking naps, enjoying the scenery and some quality time to ourselves. A very relaxing getaway. Our first Cabin retreat.. One of many...
This place was exactly what we needed for a weekend getaway. This cozy, quiet cottage was peaceful and full of great scenery! It came equipped with a fully-stocked kitchen, linens, and an AMAZING fireplace. I would definitely recommend this cottage to someone looking to slow down and enjoy nature's beauty; many sightseeing hiking adventures are just a short drive away. Sue was a delight, and quick to respond to any questions. I'd love to book this cottage in the future!
But Kevin was clean and neat and tidy, had everything that we needed. Sue, the owner, got a hold of us in a very short amount of time, and on short notice. We literally left Michigan, headed towards Kentucky, and had a place to stay within a couple hours, and it was ready by the time we arrived. We enjoyed the home, even though we do not spend much time here. already agreed that if we come back to Kentucky, we will stay here again. It's quite a drive up to the gated community, but it was well worth it. Lots of sightseeing to do within a half an hour.
The location was amazing there were other cabins around but you still had the feeling of being isolated. The beautiful one bedroom cabin was perfect for our romantic weekend getaway. We loved the hot tub we would relax in it for a few hours then come inside warm by the gas fire place. We didnt understand how to start the pilot light for the fire place so we had to call the owners for help. They were very nice and helpful. The kitchen is fully stocked with pots and pans. We highly recommend this cabin to any couple who is wanting to have a relaxation getaway.
Our family recently stayed at Whispering Woods following a visit to Mammoth Caves. After spending several days in a hotel we were thankful to have more space so that we could have separate bedtimes and sleeping areas for our kids. The cottage is ideally suited for two, but provided what we needed for our family of four. The living room with the sofa bed was chilly in the mornings and evenings, but extra blankets kept our kids comfortable. It is a charming place and the surrounding area was beautiful, even in early spring with few things in bloom yet.
My first impression was that it was quite far from places of interest, but the owner directed us to Somerset, a much bigger town than Burnside and just a few minutes further to drive. We had dinner our first evening there, picked up groceries at Aldis, and returned for an inexpensive matinee at the movie theater another day. Before arriving at the cottage we hiked the Cumberland Falls area. Since the rain held off another day longer than expected we also hiked to see the stone arch about 25 minutes away. Another fun family option would be the Escape Room in Somerset, but it was booked ahead during our spring break.
Happy to recommend Whispering Woods. Thanks to Sue for providing a lovely place to stay.
My husband and I stayed here for the weekend for our 5 yr anniversary and it was wonderful! Very nice, clean place to stay, Very relaxing with lots to see and do in the area.
Had a great weekend at this quaint little cottage. We had everything we needed. Nice walk on the loop in this little community. The hot tub was so relaxing on a chilly night. We saw the security guard drive through several times and felt very safe Would definitely rent again !
