Ask a questionWhy Gail Dodge chose Las Conchas
Las Conchas has a wonderful beach and neighborhood. I have been enjoying Rocky Point for 30 years. While at U of A, it was a common weekend getaway. We used to camp out on Sandy Beach (where all the highrises have been built). Other than that, there was one small hotel and Las Conchas. Knowing a person with a house in Las Conchas was a golden ticket... no camping on the beach. My roommate had one. It was wonderful. Unbelievable paradise. As an adult, I had been traveling down by myself and staying in the neighbors casita. Very cute and authentic Mexican style, maintains the original layout and design. One week I took my friend down there. The casita that we own had a for sale sign, we had assumed it would be identical to the one we were staying in, but were blown away when we had a chance to take a peek inside. It was modernized and had a living room, dining area, sleeping nook, bathtub and kitchen counter bar added. It's both small and spacious. The square footage could have easily accommodated 4 bedrooms. Instead it has a giant open area upon entrance with the kitchen, and 2 master king suites. We put an offer in that day and closed at the end of our week long stay. I remember my friends house was a 3 bedroom, but it felt more closed in and smaller. The large entry/kitchen has a vaulted ceiling with skylights. And the bedrooms are much larger than my master bedroom in my own home.
What makes this house unique
In many ways it's the perfect house for one couple up to two couples with kids. It's small enough and affordable enough that one couple doesn't feel like they overspent. With 2 couples, there are 2 matching extremely large master bedrooms with king beds. With two large matching bathrooms. One of the bathrooms has a tub. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the house with no sharing walls, for complete privacy. So for 2 couples, there is no decision making on who gets the better bedroom-bathroom, since they are the same. If two couples have kids, there is a 10'x5' sleeping nook in one of the bedrooms. Though we are not beachfront, it might as well be. Just a house length long of a walk, down a path right across the road and you are on the beach. Set up your beach chairs and umbrellas for the day and easily go back and forth for food, drinks and bathroom breaks, at 1/2 the price of a beachfront. We thought about putting a margarita deck on the house for an 'ocean view' but why look at a sliver of ocean over the top of a house, when it only takes twice the time to walk down and actually be on the beach.
