Part 2....we was told in the spring firewood would be there. Night before arrival he tells us he can't find any firewood so we had to get some. Every who reviewed and says there wasn't mold and mildew they was very wrong. They just didn't look for it because there is. Talked to the neighbors....whom are extremely nice and they said to look at the color of the cottages next door in the pictures and that these pictures are over 10 years old. They couldn't get over how we spent our first day and a half doing nothing but cleaning and encouraged us to leave the owner a letter because it wasn't worth what we paid for the week and what we done. So we left a letter and a week later still know responce from him and not even a little more back for what we rented it for. I'm glad we rented a boat because that is where we spent all of our time on other then to sleep. It would be such a wonderful place of he would clean up the outside and repairs on the inside but as we was told by the neighbors he doesn't. He is a very nice man and the house is stocked but he is putting everyone that rents this place vacation at risk for the problems he has there. We even changed the furnace filter out for him because it was so dirty. I have never wrote a bad review...never have had too but we have stayed at other places on the lake that didn't have a cleaning person and the places was emmaculant and we are beyond disappointedo. We didn't bother him to call him on our findingsite as we was cleaning because we had to make the best out of our only vacation we could take this year. I hope he takes things into consideration and sorry that I had to right this. Just wish more people would leave a review.

Owner's Response: I agree, I wish more guests would leave reviews. You will find a history of positive remarks in the written review book at the house. I have a few guests that have rented from me every Summer for the past ten years. The furnace filter is a 30 day disposable filter changed on Friday, August 5, 2016. I write the date on the filter when I install it. They should have looked! The filter they replaced it with was located in the Utility Room, where I keep my supply of filters. Fire Wood: I supplied wood for ten years for my guests. I cannot do it now because I have not been able to find a supplier. I would gladly pay $200 for a truck load of wood to avoid a complaint. The pictures of the cottage are current. I cannot change the color of the yellow vinyl siding, the green roof, nor the size of the deck or the location of the lake wall. Please stop by and take a look at the house. I think you will find it ideal for your family's vacation. Thank you for your consideration

Went and looked at this cottage back in the spring and thought this was a nice place so we rented it for a week for our summer vacation. The owner called me the night before our arrival and said he was having some plumbing issues in the kitchen and if we didn't want to rent the cottage he understood and if we still wanted it he would knock off a $100.00 which he stood by his word. We told him if it was just the kitchen sink we could deal with as we had the car packed and all plans made with our family coming to join us on Saturday. Then Friday as we are getting ready to leave he calls me and says he needed extra time to clean the place as the last renters trashed the place. We was running a little behind so that was ok. After we arrived and he left we couldn't believe how filthy the place was so we spent our first even doing nothing but cleaning the inside and washing the beddings which we found out the washer drum needs a good cleaning and the dryer vent had a big crack in it and the lent was coming right back in the room. The comforter in the bedroom by the kitchen was so disgusting we argued over who was going to touch it and we had to hang a sheet up at the window because the blind was broken and would not close. The bugs inside was horrible and we came to the conclusion they kept coming in because the doors don't have good seals on them because we cleaned bugs all week and we hardly stayed at the cottage but only to sleep after our family left on Sunday evening. We finally get ready to shower Friday night and the plumbing problems go further then the kitchen....we stood in about 3 inches of water while showering everyday and the toilet was also loose. We got up the Crack of dawn on Saturday and went to the outside. Cleaned the bugs off the back of the house and washed the patio furniture and the windows. The dock has broken support boards and there was nails and screws sticking up which we tried our best to get them back down so know one got hurt and there was a BIG broken tree limb up in the tree waiting to come down the next big wind storm or could of easily been taken care of if we would of had a tall ladder. Went out front to check the grill and it was so disgusting I wouldn't let my dog eat off it. So we have a few hours left before our family arrives and we have to go find somewhere to buy a charcoal grill and had to have my daughter bring along a skillet as the pots and pans were disgusting.

Owner's Response: All guests are invited and encouraged at the time they contact me to inspect my Lake House prior to renting. They make the determination to rent or pass on the rental. The vast majority approve of the property and I appreciate their patronage. The Guest was correct about the kitchen drain line. The line had collapsed and is located under the 8" concrete slab. The problem was corrected last week. The floor had to be jack hammered and the drain line replaced. The Guest was also correct about how the previous visitors had "Trashed" the house. I worked four hours prepping the house. (I cannot GRADE my guests.) The Lake at this time of the year is an attractive place for flying nats. They live for about 24 hours and are attractive to light. I advise guests to keep doors and windows closed and turn off as many lights as possible during the evening hours when people go in and out of the house on to the deck. I power wash the house once a month. I strive to provide an affordable, clean, and comfortable vacation house for my Guests.

Perfect Lake House rental

  • 5 of 5

We have rented many vacation places, and actually have one of our own too. This was by far the best stocked home, with many touches to make you feel welcome. There was wine, snacks, ice cream, which was perfect for a quick bite before unloading. We had 8, and never felt cramped. Owner was very responsive, and quick to answer emails. There is a beautiful lakeview, and this part of Indian Lake seems a little less population dense than other areas, We didn't feel like the houses were on top of each other like they are in other areas of the Lake. Large bedrooms, spread out layout, beautiful deck on water from back porch. Walk to a really fun bar - Cranberry's. Great entertainment, very reasonable drink prices.

Girls Weekend

  • 4 of 5

Indian Lake was centrally located for 7 of us to escape to for a girls only weekend. Home was inviting upon arrival, wine and snacks provided. Beds were comfortable and weekend was everything we wanted it to be. Had read previous review but no mold or bugs found by us. Perfect location for wanting to hang at the lake.

weekend get away

  • 3 of 5

Just returned home from weekend with our 2 late 20s girls and their guys. Loved the location and all the outdoor space. Plenty of bedroom space. Really enjoyed the campfires at night and pontoon rental on Sunday. Saturday was rainy but spent time under the outdoor carport/table area playing cards. Place would get a 5 star rating if professional cleaners came in after every guest- Would return again.

Leaving tomorrow

  • 1 of 5

We rented the house for Labor Day 2015. Family from Michigan supposed to join us tomorrow. We called them and said to not come. So bad we are eating $1k on a pontoon rental. Wish I could post pictures to convey the filth. We are normal, laid back. Mold on the pots, used my finger to write "dirty" on the lid to a sauce pan. Bugs all over, not just the lake bugs that come out this time of year. Spoke with a neighbor and she let us know most people don't come back to this house. Want to watch some tv? Not gonna happen unless it's on a local channel, direct tv dish is pointed right into a tree. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra money on something nicer. We have ever left a negative review. Even tip bad service but this time it was a bit too much.
