About the property

Rustic, spacious one bedroom, one bath cabin with beautiful scenic views.

The Shepherd Cabin is a rustic beauty! This cabin is one of two cabins on the property. This heated and air conditioned cabin is packed full of charm. The cabin has a lodge theme through-out the inside and sits on 14 private acres. Wake up in the morning with a cup of coffee and step outside to listen to the sounds of nature all around you. At the end of the day, savor the sunset. It would be perfect for a couple's getaway or a great place to bring the family. The cabin is so centrally located that you could spend five days here and not be able to do everything there is to do within a twenty mile radius. This property also has a beautiful location. It is close to town yet very private. The view from the front porch is breathtaking. Nothing beats the quiet of the country and the sounds of nature.

This spacious cabin has a open layout for the kitchen, dining room and living room. The roomy, bedroom loft is located upstairs and has two comfortable, queen sized beds. The cabin also has a couch and futon to help it sleep six. Refrigerator, stove, microwave, coffee maker and blender are just a few of the amenities included in the kitchen. The dining area includes a small bar and a dining table. There is a washer and dryer in the laundry area.

The cabin is completely stocked with bedding and towels. The property has an electric grill and a fire-pit. All you would need to bring is your food and clothes to feel right at home!

Sit back and enjoy the seclusion and privacy while relaxing in the comforts of the Shepherd Cabins.

About Melinda

This area is loaded with so many scenic areas. We love that it is close to many parks and sites that include rivers, hiking, kayaking, and canoeing. The valley is also filled with much history which includes the Fort Davidson Museum and Park. We have lived in the valley for many years and are so proud of our beautiful area and wanted to share it with others.

Melinda purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Melinda chose Ironton

The beautiful Arcadia Valley is located just 80 miles southwest of St. Louis. When we found the cabins we were so excited to share their beauty and charm with others seeking a quiet retreat, romantic getaway or just some much needed family rest and fun.

Our family has always loved to stay in cabins on our vacations. We wanted to provide this opportunity for visitors to our area.

What makes this cabin unique

The view from the front porch was a huge selling point for us. The cabin is nestled into the woods at the base of the beautiful Shepherd Mountain. We also liked that fact that it is private yet close to town and has many family friendly parks.

Quiet little bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We rented this quiet little bungalow for the Memorial Weekend this year. It was a very hot and steamy weekend and the air conditioner both upstairs in the bedroom and downstairs in the main living area was working perfectly. This is such a charming house with all of the amenities. It is close to local spots like Elephant Rocks and Johnson's shut ins. The house sits far back from the road and the frogs croaking during the evening hours is so very relaxing. We had a great weekend!

Great property. Close to multiple state parks and sight-seeing adventures. Very peaceful sitting around fire pit at night winding down from busy day. Highly recommend this cabin!

Absolutely Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin proved to be so much better than what we had anticipated. It was so very clean and well-kept. It was out of town just a bit, so it seemed very private. Everything was comfortable, and we brought our own pillows because we've found there just aren't enough at rental units, but that wasn't the case with this cabin. Really, everything was just perfect and the price was right! We were able to enjoy all of the natural beauty of the state parks and then head back to the cabin to rejuvenate! We will definitely be visiting again!

A beautiful getaway

  • 4 of 5

This cabin looks great and is a good space. It's fairly well stocked and in an easy location to get to all the state parks and attractions in the area. The only drawback for our family was the futon. The mattress was almost completely flat. Not even comfortable to sit on. We made it work by folding it in half, but that doesn't leave a very big area to sleep on when you have tall teenagers in the family. If you don't need this as a bed for your group, it's a really good place to stay! Obviously well taken care of and the decor is adorable. Really enjoyed the food and history nearby at Thee Abbey Kitchen. Johnson's Shut Ins is a don't miss for older kids!

Perfect small family getaway

  • 4 of 5

This is the perfect cabin for a small family looking to spend some time off the grid and enjoy swimming at the Shut In's, hiking in the mountains, or floating on the river.
